husoi Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Finally managed to make the bookings for the camping sites and got somewhere to leave the dumb ass cat Leaving Sat early (no later than 5am) via the A1 to King's Lynn camping site. Staying there for 1 night and Sun will complete the trip to Porthtowan camping site where we will set base until Friday. Planning to go for a few trip day around Cornwall, away from the damn midgesΒ Returning Friday late morning, staying over night somewhere in west midlands (depending on arrival time). Hopefully will find a hotel for the final night before making the rest of the trip back home on Sat. Β Will be posting pics if I can be botheredΒ 3 Quote

husoi Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 So, was looking for things to do in Cornwall for the week. A few things come up on the search like: Pendennis castle, Trebah (apparently some gardens) St. Michael's mount Are these people out of their minds????? The cheapest ticket is Β£12.5 to go around looking at a very old large house built by people long dead.Β The mount you either walk for 50 miles to get there in a short few hours low tide window or you spend Β£2.50pp on a boat plus the Β£24pp ticket to go walking around. Β At the end would spend around Β£200 just to visit old falling apart buildingsΒ Better ride around on the bike and eat in nice restaurants instead. Β 1 Quote

Β Agree See the sights avoid the tourist traps. I have a map of worthy greasy spoons if you want.. Β Davistoe airport worth some photos you can ride on runway (itβs not smooth for play). Β Park at Senenen Cove 30 minute walk to lands end then itβs free to see. Β the coast road from senenen to st Ives I have marked as great road then most of that north coast from minehead is. Β Think you have to pay to see milkanak theatre, even when thereβs no show but that might just be parking. Β Double your riding times on small roadsΒ the lanes can be gravelly and challenging. Β Capt jaspers in Plymouth worth a stop and you should ride PlymouthΒ Hoe. Looe, CharlestownΒ not been to Newquay for years but itβs probably worth a ride through,Β a diversion over the moors is worthy riding. Β Watch the weather it can be different on north and south coasts. 1 Quote

husoi Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 Last camping site in Porthtowan nice place to spend the night with the rain banging on the tent Torrential rain from since entering the M5 all the way to 10 miles away from the site. Wet to the bones. Monday morning, a couple of showers but strong wind dries everything quickly Very happy with the trailer, threshold speed is 85 after that the risk of fish tailing is substantial. Below that is great. 7 Quote

husoi Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Last day on Cornwall, tomorrow morning will be settling out back home. Change of plans, probably will be a 3 day trip instead of 2. Depending on weather will decide before leaving if east or west route. Quote
Bender Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Going to be nice this weekend, unusual for a UK bank holiday. 1 Quote
