Spot the mistake .

This is a pre 2004 Sportster with a genuine 500 miles on the clock . Any ideas why ?

Because it's like the new sportster (2021) and has no suspension

They look more like the support struts you might find on something that insists on too much chrome, to support the bike within its shipping crate. while en route from the factory to the dealership.  They should have been removed but, never were. possibly due to the mistaken belief they really were crash bars.

Well that's about right . Apparently the owner made the enormous crash bars and attached them to the swinging arm . You can't make it up . There is a proportion of Harley owners who are first time motorcycle owners and many of them really don't know anything about anything .

Its funny you say that 

 

My uncle has a 1992 Harley of some sort and has owned it for a long time he knows nothing about bikes  

 

He has always just bought them and rode them and thats as far as it goes

Be amazed at how many new cars are allowed off the forecourt with the transportation blocks stillon the suspension ( hard plastic disks that stop the suspension compressing whilst being shipped/transported and meant to be removed on pre delivery inspection .)
