Tinkicker Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) Heard a song on the radio and was transported back in time.. Cannot believe 40 odd years have gone by.  Vividly remember stood in the doorway at my mates house, looking at my new to me bike, while listening to his new album. Just had to put my earbuds in and listen again while looking at the pic. Mine had an aftermarket Dunstall silencer and a two four racing seat with the hump at the back. Wore a hole in the original silencer grounding it out on Haigh roundabout not far from woolley edge services on the M1. Nostalgia.. Is it as good as it used to be?     Edited April 10, 2023 by Tinkicker 3 Quote

Gerontious Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 I was 19 and as my mother would have said, acting the maggot on a KH250. Quote
Stu Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 A fair few old buggers on here! I was born in 1981 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 1981 I was poor skint student in Leeds. We used to go to a upstairs room in a dodgy pub to listen to a wicked jazz band. I inhaled some strange substances (passively) in that joint.  Quote
Old-codger Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 That brings back memories I saw Rush around 1980 at Stone in Staffs what a gig. 1 Quote
manxie49 Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 1981 just started my Army training as a junior leader ….. only feels like yesterday  Quote
Ian Frog Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 I confess to being one of the old buggers but at least I saw Rush on the farewell to kings tour at the Hammersmith odeon. Great band and in my opinion an act that would be very hard to beat. 400/4 not bad either lol. Cheers Ian Quote

MikeHorton Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) In 1981 I was 5. At infants school and that year I wet myself in assembly and it was on a wooden floor on the Hall I think I ruined the varnish. I had to see Mrs Totney for some spare pants and trousers out of the magic drawer Edited April 10, 2023 by MikeHorton 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 1981 I was doing my 2nd Mates in Liverpool. We used to frequent a sleazy club called the Cabin. Most of its clientele were MN cadets, police cadets, student nurses or trainee Phys Ed teachers from I M Marsh. Strange substances were pretty rare there as any whiff of anything more esoteric than booze and tobacco would see any of us out on arses career wise. In the basement of this dive the condensed sweat used to drip off the ceilings so we used to put beer mats over the glasses. 1 Quote

Nostalgia.. Is it as good as it used to be?     Beautiful bike. My older brother came home one day with the glossy sales brochure for it, and I was sold but hadn't the money. He was going to pull the trigger on it, but our dad, who used to have a bike himself, persuaded him not to by giving him his old Cortina Mk 1 for next to nothing. Funny, when I went to buy my first bike, he wasn't so bothered about diverting me! 1 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I remember Motorhead played the student union. My room was directly over the stage. It was not a quiet night. The bar has a vast range of beverages available, Newcastle Brown or Newcastle Brown. By the end of the evening the pit in front of the stage had about 2 inches of the stuff sloshing around. 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 First time I got pissed on beer it was Newcastle Brown. Haven't been a fan since. Quote
