fastbob
I thought I might take out some breakdown cover but I'm not having much luck because a lot of sites don't recognise Q plates . Any ideas ?
Mississippi Bullfrog
Someone on here recommended GEM to me. They cover you rather than the bike. We've been with them a couple of years now and I'm happy with the way they do things.
Gerontious
This is when its best to phone.. the websites are very much generalised. Q plates aren't much of a thing anymore. Cant remember the last time I saw one on the road. though I see one daily on a mystery bike that's permanently covered. Ian Frog
+1 for Gem as they cover me on any of the bikes and the car. Incidently I was a member when I owned that Q plate. Cheers Ian
bud
I always used the AA. Not the cheapest, but always had good service from them. They cover the person for any vehicle too. Even if you are riding in someone else's car.
S-Westerly
My recent(2 years ago) experience with the AA was so dire I've had nothing to do with them since.

I have heard bad things about most to be fair. I waited five hours with my mate once for the RAC to turn up. They couldn't fix his bike, so another two hours for a recovery. daveinlim
I'm with AA, I'm the one covered rather than a specific vehicle. Also I can get a relative rescued even if I'm not there. It's breakdown cover though like getting a flat tyre or a dead battery. I was in an accident last year and they said that's not covered and it's £300 to come get me. Fortunately my insurance covered recovery

Bianco2564
I've just made the switch to GEMS from the AA. Far more comprehensive cover for half the price.
