Stephane Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Hello everyone, My name is Stephane, I have been riding for a little while now but have started to recently do longer trips in Europe. In 2022 I did the Artic Circle and this year I did Nordkapp. I ride a Honda cb500x which I have had from new and find this bike soo much easier to ride than the previous BMW gs. My next trip is eastern Turkey and wanted to know if there was someone out there that has done a similar trip and could possibly kindly give me some pointers. Thank you Stephane 2 Quote
husoi Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Welcome to the forum @Stephane Word of caution. The boss @Stu is a big fan of beamers... (God knows why). Great to hear from another fellow tourer some pics wouldn't go a miss 1 Quote
Bender Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Welcome There are a few long distant folks on here, I'm sure they will be along shortly. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Hello from someone that doesn't travel that far. Quote
geofferz Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Hello from a 'if I wanted a tourer I'd get a car' (but will probably change my mind in 5 years time) sports bike owner. I love turkey, spent 7 months there in covid. 1 Quote
Stephane Posted December 7, 2023 Author Posted December 7, 2023 Hello everyone, Thank you all for your replies and sorry to the Boss as I loved my GS (the sound and vibrations from the boxer engine was such a lovely feeling). My next trip is for May/June 2024 to eastern Turkey (Noha's ark national park), the distance is around the 2800 ish miles and 50 miles from the Iranian border and was wondering if people would be able to give me some advice (is camping safe? or air B and Bs better?) are petrol stations frequent? are there any countries to avoid on the way down? Thank you Stephane Quote
Gerontious Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Simplest way is to do the entire journey to the Turkish border within the EU. So bypass Serbia. Quote
