Simon Davey Posted March 21 Posted March 21 @Trooper74 Great to see someone having a brilliant ride out, that's what we aim for. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I did a dry run of the Congo motorbike fundraising route. Except it wasn't a dry run because it rained. 2 1 Quote
Throttled Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Today I started the process to trade my Versys in and ordered my new bike. Fourteen years with four Kawasaki adventure tourers, is coming to an end. 2 Quote

rob m Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Yesterday I went out for a ride of my usual loop, about 165 miles. I felt a bit 'meh' so headed home after an hour and only 70 miles done. Strange, I don't normally feel like that. Kicked myself up the arse today and headed out again, Totally glorious ride. 210 miles done, stopping at Whiteways Cafe in Sussex (where I had a disgustingly glorious burger) , Seaford Beach (where I had an ice cream) and then Rye before heading back to Surrey. Only a couple of pictures as I spent most of my time riding the bike. That said, I fell in love with the K1300S again. It was supreme. I had pondered trading it in over the winter but now I really couldn't justify spending money (I don't have) on another bike when this one ticks all the boxes. On Saturday I'll be riding it to the K1300S meet at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham then I have 6 days in the Eifel area of Germany at the end of the month. Really looking forward to both trips. Looking forward to another year on the big K. 9 Quote
Simon Davey Posted April 2 Posted April 2 That's just so much goodness in one post @rob m A bike you still love, and one that looks good enough to eat, a burger that really was good enough to eat, and a fantastic ride. 1 Quote

Stu Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Just got back from a ride which we set off straight after work at 5pm! Lovely to start but temp soon dropped meaning the heated gear was on For some reason I couldn't keep warm! Still a decent 130 mile trip after work across in to Lincolnshire and back 6 Quote
ColinWB Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I finished work at 4pm, fed and watered by 430pm and on the bike by 5pm. A wee trip up the banks of Loch Lomond to Tarbet then Arrochar, where I took the road towards Helensburgh. What a road, it was like a BMX track with constant humps and twisting chicanes. Some of the humps could easily result in accidentally getting airborne if you get the speed wrong . At the Finnart oil terminal it gave me a 1 in 6 hill to climb . All the way along the road the low sun was strobing through the trees, a little bit unsettling. Through Garelochhead and down the west shore of Gareloch to Kilcreggan, mostly 30mph limit but a stretch of 40mph and a quick blast of national speed limit. Coming back out of Kilcreggan my patience was tested at the roadworks. It felt like I waited 5 minutes for the green light on a road that must get 5 cars an hour max Anyway, that was the only frustration, so not bothered by it now. I rode back up to Garelochhead and then down the east shore through Helensburgh and on to Dumbarton then across the Erskine Bridge and headed back to Inverclyde via Bishopton, riding into the last of the setting sun. I didn’t stop on this trip so there are no photos. A nice 3.5 hours ride 8 Quote

rob m Posted April 5 Posted April 5 This morning I rode to the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham for a BMW K1300S meet up. Over 20 bikes and riders attended and I was pleasantly surprised I had the only one in factory red Great fun, looking forward to the next one. 9 Quote

Fender1515 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 So early frosty start for my ride this morning, down to my local bike garage, drank tea, talked back in the day bike stuff, love these times. Oh and bike passed the MOT, happy days. 7 Quote
Throttled Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Ride in the sun and in my armoured denims, that did not get worn last year at all, due to the crap weather. 4 Quote
JRH Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Finally got the time to ride and the sun was out. Was a bit chilly to start with @Throttled the armoured denims as opposed to the textiles. A good run out across the South Midlands to pick up 3 tags and lunch at Coton Orchard garden centre. 3 Quote
Popular Post Simon Davey Posted April 8 Popular Post Posted April 8 (edited) I had 5 hours of on the bike this afternoon, it got pretty uncomfortable at times, but nothing like the pain from riding my ZZR. I've decided my Zumo is a f*ckwit and doesn't understand me, why would I want to spend 30 miles on the A14 on my new bike, I want twisty bits. Which, to be fair, it did once I set the route to "adventurous".. I had a fantastic time, the V-strom is the dogs nadgers, love the cruise control in the low speed limits, and as I can only get the balls of my feet on the ground, the hill hold control is brilliant. I'm definitely cornering faster than on my ZZR too, which is quite ironic. Went to the bike dealer in Mildenhall, big shout out to Andrew at R&C who is very friendly and helpful. Then of to grab a tag near Bury St Edmunds, then quite a long trip to get the next tag just south of Ipswich. Even had a fantastic ride home because school's out. 136 miles all done. Mississippi Bullfrog Posted Friday at 06:43 Posted Friday at 06:43 153 miles around N Wales. Started at the Chain and Sprocket in Ruthin, then over the top to Bala, from there to Lake Vyrnwy, and back into Cheshire. Set off in frost, came home in 20 C. I find the Motobit app excellent for finding quiet twisty routes. Only downside was a lot of gravel on some of the smaller roads. 5 Quote
Fish Posted Friday at 14:40 Posted Friday at 14:40 Took the XSR900 into Sondel Yamaha for the TPS recall, then I had to test it after the work was completed, so out for a couple of hours enjoying the sun. 6 Quote
Simon Davey Posted Friday at 21:50 Posted Friday at 21:50 (edited) I thought I'd be clever and go for a ride at 20:00 this evening. Nope, wasn't clever, I didn't wear a lining in my trousers, I wore summer gloves, and the temperature dropped very quickly to 11 degrees. So I've discovered that LED lights are shite on tight bends, and the beam doesn't go that far, so used high beam on the unlit roads. Riding at night is just complete pants, very hard work for me, especially as I was quite cold. Anyhoo, got to Bury St Edmunds and the darned road to Sudbury was closed, instead of just going back home, and accepting the ride was going to be an hour instead of two hours, I followed my sense of direction. What the feckin hell was my sense of direction doing? I ended up down some very narrow, dark, and twisty country lanes. In the end, I dialled in "home" on the Zumo and arrived back in one piece. Two hours twenty minutes in the dark, and 75 miles later, I'm sitting here stuffing chocolate to console myself. But hey, at least I got out for a ride. V650 Posted Saturday at 06:45 Posted Saturday at 06:45 Went to work on the bike instead of the car Usually If im going to go on the bike I bring a heavy chain & lock with me in the car the day before but last minute decision to go on the bike ment I had to carry the chain in a backpack ( Not great ) but hey the sun was shining on the way home so happy days Maybe a bit more tinkering later on as I have some oil & a filter there to throw in 4 Quote
Fish Posted Saturday at 13:03 Posted Saturday at 13:03 @Simon Davey, I class these as experience rides. It's normally an experience I dont want to be in a rush to do again. The main thing is that you made it home in one piece. 2 1 Quote
