GL Moto Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Hi, we're interested in launching more licensed wooden balance bikes. Trying to get an idea from you bike experts if this is something you would be interested in getting for the kids in the life? All feedback would be great. We understand how to make the product but are less clear on the potential demand. Thanks. Quote
Simon Davey Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I think most people just buy a bike and remove the pedals. Quote
bonio Posted February 20 Posted February 20 My grandsons have both had balance bikes and became very good on them. Transferring to a pedal bike has been really easy for them. But I think my son would be looking for something a bit more hipster than "Suzuki". Perhaps some home-roasted eco coffee thing. 2 Quote
GL Moto Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 Tiggie LOL! Thanks for the perspective Bonio, we'd definitely work on more brands! 1 Quote

I’d be looking more like what bonio suggested, So something like working on your own brand image and put a spin on it slightly or make it look like a racing team, like an independent? how much interest directly …don’t know, mostly girls in the families circle , half of the boys bothered with the balance, one of them was more often than not on one but the other wasn’t fussed. RAYK47 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 i think they look great. My kids are too old but my grandson may need one soon. Price will be a factor as they dont tend to use them for very long. 1 Quote
Tinkicker Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I think i am getting old. I have no concept of what a "balance bike" is. Quote

onesea Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I bought one for my daughter, when she was young. Yes it helped her start riding. However they are not along term investment, it’s matching in with competitors: Quote
RideWithStyles Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) Yes so as onesea pointed out and I said you need to put a spin on it or something that will attract them otherwise people will just go with quick default of mass market or easier to get at for a “reasonable price”, at least for the investment within a crowded market. so for example the metal will be seen as more durable with the view of “hand me down” or pass on from the buyer, and Boys will be boys….. wood, if taken from responsible resources will be the partly eco friendly view. More from recycled parts are eco…. Edited February 21 by RideWithStyles Autocorrect Quote
Mickly Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I looked at a KTM branded one for my then 3yo Grandson it was £80 & that was 9 years ago. A idea might be some type of guaranteed deal so they could be returned, refurbished & resold when out grown? This would also help with your company’s Eco credentials. Quote
RAYK47 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 looks like the KTM one is more like £155 now. That's far too expensive when they will only use it for a year or so and you can get them for £30 or so(they were not popular when my kids were young so didnt have one). S-Westerly Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I'd not say no to a branded balance bike but all my grandchildren have graduated to pedal bikes and no.2 grandson is making noises about an ICE off road machine. Mother is saying no and given he's only 12 can probably hold the line. When they were small all 4 of them were keen balance bike users and excessively fast too with as much common sense as a goose. The lazier ones (all 3 of the boys) didn't enjoy transferring to pedal bikes as it was "too hard". Quote
