    Headlight issue

sounds like a break in the wiring system have you got a wiring diagram and a multimeter? its time to start visually checking wires and doing a continuity test to find out where the break is i once had it where a wire had rubbed through and watter had got in and corroded the wire until it broke down and couldn't carry enough electricity to power the high beam i snipped a section out and soldered a new wire in there and all was well
  2. you dont have a cam belt on a bike well apart from ducati's you have a cam chain the cam chain tensioner is exactly that its to tension the cam chain as the chain wears the tensioner will self adjust keeping it at the correct tension if it doesnt adjust properly you will get ralle personally i dont think its this as it would do it all the time not just when cold heat or oil will not affect how much tension it puts on the chain
  3. ive heard that the inserts do absorb the condensation and they do tend to need drying out over time maybe this is the case
  4. also has it only started to do it since the temp has dropped ?
  5. Its only got around 18'000 ish, although it has been thrown down a road at about 30mph well the valve clearances need checking and adjust if neccesary at 42000km (26000 miles) or 42 months whichever comes first thats high if you ask me!!! so not there yet but might be worth a check
  6. how many miles are on the clock ? i cant see it been the can chain tensioner to be honest as it would rattle all the time even when warm
  7. also when was the oil last changed ? it could be due an oil change as oil does thin out the older it gets and will drain off easier when stood still
  8. looks like its going to be a good turn out shame im working otherwise i would have took a drive in the car seen as though the bike is still in bits!!!
  9. It'll be even funnier if it works it does work my optimate plays up every now and then and have to do this
  10. but i WANT to aprill is best for me im on holiday from the 11th
  11. Techno, as we are only going one way then staying over, we could start a little later than normal, even 11.30 at Devils will get us into Scarborough in good time and daylight.. I've put bank hols in the diary thread, as these will probably have other events, not yet discussed, so best to leave them free for now, Thinking March, and a later start than normal, I'll Depart Barrow at 1030, aiming to arrive at Devils Bridge for 1130. Yeah but its a 1.5 hour ride for me to get to devils so early start and even longer for me if i decided to go there

  21. just do what i have done then strip the bike replace the bits that need replacing and give the engine a good service sounds to me thats all that needs doing really oh and new fairings
  22. hmmmm seriously strip the bike all new bearings everywhere powder coated frame swinger and wheels new fairings in all black nice undertray if you havent already cant stand the big ugly OE ones!!! short leavers chain and sprockets and some engine work ie a really good service and new cam chains and tensioners as you know they are prone to going on the firestorm also if you can afford to spend some on decent suspension you wont regret it the bike will handle like a dream
