  1. Headers done! Looks like there's plenty of clearance all round the turbo which is a result. Originally I was going to mount it the other way round to get the exhaust exiting on the right side like it is now. I'm glad I put it this way though, the headers were simpler to make and they should flow better. Things still to do: - Finesse the inside of the headers... with a grinder. - Sort out oil lines. - Make up plenum. - Make post turbo exhaust. - Acquire intercooler and figure out piping. So yeah, nearly done.
  2. What did the old plug and filter look like and does the exhaust smell of petrol? With the fuel in the filter box and only running with the throttle wide open I'd have a stab over fuelling - possibly the float is stuck open.
  3. I got frustrated with nothing happening with this and bored waiting for stuff to come from China so started work on a set of headers. I had a poke about my steel stock and magically turned up exactly the right diameter tube. So I started hacking some bits up: Here's some of the bits used to make it up - mainly 15 degree cuts to make the 90 degree bends. This is one side. I've welded up the head flanges and first set of bends then started tacking things together. I knocked up a bracing thing which bolts to the bench so I can get the tubing in the right position prior to welding. I did loads of trial fits on the bike and had to make some corrections. I finished up the main part and have made a start on the turbo flange. Forgot to take a pic of that though.
  4. Glad you all has a whizzy-jolly time. I'm almost relieved that I couldn't make it - I would have been the only one wearing any sort of colour.
  5. This stuff is the shizzle. I used it to stick stainless steel flat bar to scabby old concrete to form the threshold of my workshop. Absolutely perfect water tight seal. You probably won't get them back off though.
  6. I reckon legal as there is tread visible. However, I think it would be an MOT failure as it looks like the mudguard is fouling the tyre.
  7. Perhaps our good friend might have a manual handy. The only way you'll know for sure is if you have it apart and get some feelers between the teeth but I really wouldn't be in a hurry unless it got worse (I mean genuine worse, not paranoid worse ). You'd be surprised how well those rubbers last - I just had my '95 ZXR750 to bits and mine were Jim dandy. How was the charging voltage by the way?
  8. I would... Not worry too much about it. Probably just a bit of lash in the drive. If it was a whine or grinding I would investigate further but as you've had the bits off and spun them round... The only thing I would check is the battery voltage. It should be drawing a good bit of charge after starting which should load up the generator.
  9. Fair enough. Only if they used the incorrect driver for them which some probably do.

Vigorously bouncing on the seat also does the trick some times.
  11. Where did that come from?
  12. Well that's cleared things up nicely. Edit: forgot to say "And everyone lived happily ever after".
  13. Sounds more appropriate... That's quite amusing Phil.
  14. I don't think the bloke is speaking to me any more. He insisted on dropping them off to me at work (whilst wearing lary Ripspeed gear) and was a bit peeved that I couldn't do him a lab tour. Your certificate should be fine Beefs. Let me know if it isn't and I might be able to sort something.
  15. Where has he gone? Does he not like us any more?
  16. Yeah, get rid of the lot I say.
  17. Thank you!
  18. I've started a thread about my conversion. Which I'm updating as I go - currently waiting for bits though. I'm using a Garrett GT2052 from a diesel Volvo. See if you can download Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, it's loaded with info. If you can't find it I can email you the pdf.
  19. Sorry about that - they look exactly the same. Some 'Murcin forum people reckon they're not compatible but I don't know why. If your eBay special fails to work you can always try mine.* You can join the TMBF Turbo club. Total members so far: 0.5. *I take zero responsibility if flames or breaking occur!
  20. I got a pair of Diamond warmers last year. They work really well from a smallish genny (I "borrowed" one of these). I was a bit skeptical about them but you don't have to fanny about for a lap or two before pushing on so you get more usable track time.
  21. I did look at that Joeman - I've got enough hoses with the oil cooler already and didn't want to have any draped near a hot turbo.
  22. Sorry Tuks, thought you said you were using warmers. When I started I did plenty of days and still used the bike for commuting. The track wears the edges and the road does the middle - proper value for money.
  23. That'll be fine. Two heat cycles are nothing - it's not as if you're going to give it the full beans in the road.
  24. Great, thank you! Just need to find a cheaper one now...
  25. Sounds like you've pinned it down then! Mine is 21119-1363 and apparently in not compatible. There are quite a few on eBay around the £40 mark.
