  1. Thank you for your responses so far. I have just brought myself a Canon 1100D (used) with three lenses. The standard lens which came with the camera from new is a macro lens. The other two appear to be “zoom” lenses. One is manufactured by Canon, The other is by a third party company called Sigma. The Sigma lens seems really good from what I have used of it so far. (I am still very new to this so if it is easier, I can upload photos of the lenses that I have to make sure they can be better identified.) My first question at this stage is what should I be using these lenses for? (other than taking photos, obviously) Some photos that I have taken with them have turned out great... others, not so well. I Want to know if I’m using each lens for its correct purpose. For example;- I know the macro lens is only really suited for close-ups and seeing every tiny detail. I’m assuming it won’t be so great for taking pictures of landscapes and scenery.
  2. I don’t mean just taking the odd snap here and there using a phone. I mean seriously, more like a hobby or a profession.... I’m just starting out in it and I have lots of questions and info I’d like to ask people.
  3. Haven’t watched this myself yet, but it is on my list...
  4. May I ask what your setup is for spraying? Links to tools would be good if you can
  5. Things are ok. I don’t think I’ll ever truly forget. It comes to mind every time I get on the bike but like most things in this system, you just get on with it. I have to remind myself sometimes of the event because I find myself being careless otherwise... I didn’t know it was possible to have “too much” fun.
  6. Sorry to resurface an old thread... I came across this video recently and felt it was relevant to apply it to this topic. I know the video is set in another part of the world, but it had some good points to take on board. I don’t think it would of changed much in the situation I was in, but someone else may find it useful.
  7. Good job I’m not easily offended But that’s also why I’m on this forum... for the honesty! Thanks for all the replies, despite how strange this thread comes across.
  8. I’m into motorcycles (obviously), but not sure if I’ll like watching the racing. Will I like it? Where can I start following or watching this stuff live and on TV? Is there a good place to start? What should I know? Any rules? Before you answer, here are some things about me... - I’d like to try a track-day one day. - Got two friends who watch bike racing heavily. - They are planning to go to Silverstone this year to see the GP live for weekend but I don’t want to shell out that kind of money if I ain’t gonna like it. I’m more worried about being bored. - I do like to go fast, I have that “Need for Speed” as some say but not a death wish. But I certainly get the adrenaline rush. Will I feel the same way though watching others do laps? - I have watched the Isle of Man TT and would still watch it if I only remembered too This may sound like an odd thing to discuss but think of it as introducing someone to Football. All they know is you win by not coming second place. They don’t know what disqualifies you, who are the best players currently, who is the best to cheer for etc.
  9. I already have some bar end mirrors on the bike but they are the circular design which I don’t like. I’m after the oval shaped ones. They can be aftermarkets, they don’t have to be official Triumph ones. If I can’t find a used but decent pair on the forums, then I will just have to suck it up and buy them brand new.
  10. Ok I picked her up this evening, a little later than planned but she’s at home now. I must say... she is one dirty girl, especially with the scorpion exhaust on without the baffle!!
  11. I know it sounds a little backwards. Overall we’ve managed to save £100 a month by trading both in and getting another one. If I’m honest, I only would of done this in a years time anyway when my CBR agreement was due to end.
  12. Why change? Just trying to consolidate my monthly outgoings. I currently have two bikes I was leasing, a 125 for the wife which she no longer wanted, and my CBR which was due to be traded in for something different in a year anyway. The dealer wouldn’t take just the 125 alone because of the time of year but they would consider taking in both on the basis I’d take out something else. So I decided to consider it which is how I ended up with the Triple. The dealer was happier with the exchange and I was happier with the price. The dealer agreed to throw in at no extra cost a full service, bar end mirrors, and heated grips. It already comes with a belly pan, tail tidy, fly screen, crash bungs, and a scorpion exhaust.
  13. http:// https://www.jsgedge.co.uk/pages/used/used-bikes/2017-17-TRIUMPH-STREET%20TRIPLE%20675-675cc/5d7617762411cd077.html I pick her up Saturday, unless I can’t wait until then... I have never owned a “Striple” before so please share with me your views and comments. I like to gather info along the way. I must admit... I will be very sad to see my CBR650F go.... I love that bike so much!
  14. I maybe wrong but the new 650R hasn’t changed much in terms of styling. It also sounds like the same problem I had with my 650F, a “slip-on” doesn’t exist for the kind of exhaust system is has. It’s a full system change or stick with the standard stock one. As for remapping etc.. I didn’t bother. The bike has been fine ever since. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong to remap, I’m just telling you my experience.
  15. I experienced a motorcycle crash. It wasn’t me thankfully, however it was another rider who had overtaken me and it was just seconds later I was coming to stop. As I moved over in the road to get a look at what was happening I saw that rider laying on the floor and his bike about another 10 cars away from him. I and some others got out of their vehicles to try and help. The rider was in a very bad way. I myself had to physically cut off his helmet and his backpack and under the direction of paramedics on the phone, they told us to flip him over on his back. I found a pulse and had hope he was going to make it. But I was still doubtful when I saw the blood running out of his ears and jelly-like from his nose. Then to make it worse, with each chest compression given you felt his ribs crunch and crumble.... Paramedics arrived and took over. After 15 minutes of trying... they gave up and he died right there on the scene. They explained to us that he had heavy bleeding internally which was rushing to his head and filling his chest which meant that blood wasn’t flowing to any other parts of the body. There was nothing more they could do. My heart sunk as you would expect. What made this whole situation worse was that I had searched through his backpack for some I.D. and I came across his phone which was locked with a passcode... which also had a screensaver on it of two children, no older than 8. It was too close to home for me having two kids, one who is 6 and the other who is 3. I’m thinking of seeing a doctor soon as Sheena (my wife) thinks I’m suffering with PTSD. I crumbled when I came home, just all the adrenaline and drama. My hands were dried in his blood which I had to wash off... it was a bad time. I’m still reliving every moment today. Not sure why I’m sharing this with the forum. Part of me feels the world should know what happened. But I must be honest, it does help me speaking about it to others even if that is in person or on the internet.
  16. From what I remember, the vehicle that is already moving has right of way. If all vehicles are moving, the you usually give way to vehicles approaching from your right. If an accident was to occur where there are no road markings, then the conclusion can become a 50/50 of who was at fault. Not sure if that helps or if any of it is true. I’m sure someone will be along to correct me or agree...
  17. Your right about the same question being asked before. That doesn’t mean though it’s not valid to ask still... If you want something lightweight, I would suggest going for a younger bike. Modern bikes are usually built with modern materials making them lighter. I can’t offer much advice about performance but after reading your post, I’m thinking something along the lines of Honda Crossrunner or Crosstourer. These are more “adventure” style bikes so not quite the cruiser you maybe after. You seem to have a healthy budget aswell so maybe find your local dealers and go sit on a few to see how they feel.

  19. I guess it depends on how superstitious you are. I personally don’t believe in that sort of thing but I must admit, that is a good idea for an item of jewellery.
  20. I got a concern that I can’t really lay to rest without hearing other opinions and doing more research. I own a CBR650F 2015 which I believe is at 86BHP from new. I planned to keep this one for the long run. I couldn’t help but get worried though about the loss of horses that may happen over the years. I don’t want to sit on it 10 years from now and think “this feels gutless!!”. Am I overthinking this too much? Is the loss of power that noticeable? Can I prevent it happening?
  21. I’d be curious to know some performance figures. I’d also like to see some fatter tyres
  22. When I got my first “lid”, the shop owner told me to make sure that when it’s on and buckled up, your face (being the skin and cheeks etc.) should move with the helmet if you hold the helmet by the bottom, the part that sits in front of the mouth. The shop owner said where I got my second lid from... “put it on and buckle up, then when your ready I will hold the front of helmet and I want you to try and turn your head. If you can’t turn your head without the helmet moving then it’s a good fit!” Not sure how true any of the above is but it’s sounds like pretty decent advice.
  23. I am trying to be very careful with my wording because of what your saying. So far I’ve been ok without any form of insults or identification being given. To my knowledge, all other workers are on the same employment status with the company (sub-contractors) with the option of them deducting your tax for you, which is what I opted for. This is no longer optional if I’m correct anyway, it’s all to do with the CIS from HMRC.
  24. The only one who didn’t have a van was the guy who gave me half of his bonus. That’s because he doesn’t drive....
