1. lol Go on mate... what's the story?
2. Following on from another post, I was kind of curious: how often do people crash? The guidelines for voting are Don't count a crash If you were getting on or getting off If the bike was stopped when or just before it happened If you were paddling it with your feet and lost your grip If you weren't riding the bike at the time! If it happened more than 10 years ago Do count every other crash Even if it didn't involve another vehicle Even if it was someone else's fault Even if it couldn't have been avoided Even if you still feel hard done by it
3. Er, what contaminants? Pesticides, fertilisers, slurry etc. Pig shit. Cow shit. Every shit xcept sheep shit.
4. 12 crashes wow I'm totally impressed you're still with us to tell us I've had one in 10 years (about 75k miles): a low side at 15mph when the front hit gravel. Completely my fault - I took the corner too wide and ended up near the middle of the road where the gravel likes to hang out. Seriously mate, consider a Bikesafe course or some advanced training. You'll be more than glad you did. If you're after a V twin, I dunno what to suggest. There's the Versys 650, but it's not a knee-down bike. Street Triples start at £3k. A CB500 might work for you, but they're really hard to find now. What about an SV650?

Hello!

Bigger bikes are a lot easier to ride than 125s! You''ll love it
6. I'm not clear... you after a cheap, reliable sports bike or a cheap, reliable winter hack? Cheap reliable sportsbike: CBR600RR? R6? Cheap reliable winter hack: ER6F? Fazer? Something in between: CBR600F? Also, when you say you write the bike off, do you sell it for scrap or crash it and then sell it for scrap?
7. ¡Felicidades! Que mantengas el lado brillante hacia arriba.
8. jedibiker Congratulations mate.

10. Which valuation sites are you using? My guess is they're not reliable... Look online (MCN, and Autotrader) and see what prices similar bikes are being offered at. Adjust for mileage, condition and model year.
11. ... and then a pic in front of this one near us:
12. Looking after the older grandson, while the younger one is being born*. He's now upstairs magically asleep and I'm one beer into the evening. He is really into tractors and trucks, and keeps saying "truck, truck", or "pickup truck". Only he still confuses 't' with 'f' and his 'r's are very weak. Can't help finding it hilarious. * came this afternoon. 9lbs 11oz

Newbies

OK, I first saw the light of day thirty years after the end of the Great War. So please forgive any cock-ups I make here, I just getting used to it. Blimey, that is older than Xtreme. Until now I wasn't sure that even possible
14. Ok some more from today. Apologies if this appears picky or ungrateful. I'm just trying to record my impressions so I can go back and read them later. Ducati Multistrada 950S I'd had a short test ride on this bike before about 18 months ago, and simply loved it. This time I wanted to check out how it would at dual carriageway speeds. The answer: it's fine, but it doesn't shine at this speed. The main question in my head was, how would I feel after a whole on the motorway? And the answer is probably a bit knackered. It'd be nice to try it out for a longer period than the statutory 45 minutes allocated for a test ride, but I'm not sure how to make this happen. Even if it didn't have its cornering superpowers, the note of the engine when during an overtake is alone enough to put the bike on the list: it grasps the soul and stirs it. Ducati Multistrada 1260S I'd ridden this one nearly two years ago, in mud and rain, and felt that it was a bigger, heavier bike than I wanted. But, given I was at the dealer, I'd thought I'd give it a try on dry sunny roads. Turns out that it's a bigger, heavier bike than I want. BMW R1250GS I have some really fond memories of my R1200GS. And this bike is a real improvement on the 1200: a gear box you don't have to fight, a quickshifter that is pretty slick, an even awesomer engine, and a new improved sound to boot. But for some reason it reminded me of the reasons I got rid: the way it pootles along happily 65, but only properly feels engaged at 75+, and the feeling of being on something as large as battleship. So not love at first sight, more like getting back with someone you have seen for a long time and realise that they haven't really changed. Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE (for fullscreenaging) I like this bike a lot. The same awesome engine as the Ninja 1000SX, but I liked it more than the Ninja: the upright position is better for me, better cornering it feels bigger and has more presence on the road, and the issue with the vagueness in the front definitely less, making the ride a lot more relaxing. But the vagueness was still there. The salesman said it was likely down to the Bridgestone tyres, and that decent tyres would sort it out. If I could be sure he's right, I'd be very interested.
15. Good choice of kit there. All the best with the cbt
16. Cilla Black ... MarkW... Oh no. I've gone and glyphed
17. I never bought blind like this, but I seem to remember some people here saying either they have, or they would. I think I would if the bike and the dealer were right. Since you're buying from a dealer, then I'd be asking as much about the dealer as the bike: how do their reviews compare with other Honda dealers? Some are good, some are not so good. Also, is the warranty just with them, or is it backed up by the whole dealer network? - it might be a real hassle to get stuff sorted out if you have to take the bike on a 4 hour journey each time. I'd also ask for details of all the non-routine work that's been carried out on the bike in the two years of its life - it's not much, but it might give you some idea of how much trouble it's been to own up to now. And sure I'd ask about the year when it wasn't used, when was the fuel was last filled up and that kind of stuff. You could ask for a vid of it idling if you think it would help. To be honest, it's a Kwak and it's just 2 years old. If it looks as if it's been looked after (check for corrosion on the headers, for example) then I'd have thought it should be an ok bike.

Evnin' all

Nooo. If you live in Somerset: * "down" is towards Devon and Cornwall * "up" is towards London. * "West Sussex" is unreachable
19. It's honestly not too bad, I've been taught to put down two ramps for you and the bike to do it safely. That's how my bike instructor used to load the bikes up into his van.
20. Nice bike - I love the Thruxton and by all accounts they give a great ride. I bumped into someone who was parking his in the market place a couple of years ago. He'd had it just a few weeks, and was really thrilled with it.
21. I've never visited the shop, but I'd be confident you'd find them really helpful.
22. Ha. We almost got to Southwold on our walk, but turned round at the windmill in the marsh. Crazy busy there at the moment. Walberswick is my favourite though.
23. Walked along the Blyth at high tide. Cleaned, oiled and tightened the chain. Might go out for a pootle with mrs bonio tomorrow. Suffolk coost? Where d'ye go goat?
