  1. Fyi, scotchbrite can be had in different grades. Red coarse Green medium Grey fine https://www.toolstation.com/contour-sanding-pads/p10736
  2. Too coarse and will damage the ally and spit bits of gasket everywhere including inside the engine
  3. We have used this stuff with success on stubborn gaskets. https://www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/lubricants-and-chemicals/cleaners-and-degreasers/7200-gasket-remover-aerosol-cleaner-400ml/p/LOC7255702X
  4. Got the old bushes out, cut around the outside of the rubber then sliced the steel case with a Dremel or in my case the Aldi cheapo equivalent. Ordered tyres, tubes and rim tapes all off ebay.
  5. Checked on Google, there should be 11 main bolts holding it on, on that image of a sump one of them is underneath the plate at the bottom of the pic.
  6. Managed to get into the garage and restart work on the Honda. Got the rear wheel out, stripped all the spokes out and cleaned up the hub and brake back plate. The cush rubbers are shot so went to David Silver thinking they were unique to the SS and then realised they are the same as a CG125. Quick scan on ebay and got a set for £10 less than DS. New rim tape, inner tubes and tyres planned.
  7. @fastbob Sacrilege, they are replacing Jag V12s with an AAA battery factory in Cov. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-56071246
  8. They are.... She then made a lasagne for tea, 7 hrs in the kitchen. Superstar
  9. Mrs B has been busy today. Brownies, coffee and walnut cake, macaroons and cherry biscuit things.
  10. Perhaps the bike manufacturers should give bikes to Instagram influencer types then all the like Millenials would like get one cos its like cool to be like a Kardashian. They could then post videos on YouTube or Tic Tok on how to ride them....like.
  11. +1 on the JIS screwdrivers, they make a surprising amount of difference despite looking similar to Phillips.
  12. Hopefully they will cover the bank in soil and replant it to stabilise it.
  13. Interesting, I've also had plenty of shonky cars and bikes in 4 decades on the road. I see the petition is at 85000 so it might get its day in parliament.
  14. We live about 1/4 mile from the West cost mainline and saw in the news last week reports of a landslip nearby causing trains to be diverted via Northampton, It said the driver felt something was wrong with the track. We could hear work going on and took a walk down there this afternoon to see what they are doing. They have cleared about 100 metres of trees and undergrowth and are piling up must be thousands of tons of ballast to shore it up. You can actually see the ends of the sleepers and where a load of wiring is exposed where what looks like a concrete channel has collapsed. This must have been so close to complete disaster as the trains come by in excess of 100mph if they aren't stopping at Rugby. I guess after the recent fatal crash in Scotland they are playing it ultra safe.
  15. My 2003 M3 already has a speed limiter, its set at 155mph and I promise not to tamper with it.
  16. Best of luck to him. I still remember the excitement of first getting on the road almost 41 years ago. Sat on my Honda SS50 in my parents drive waiting for 7am to tick over on my 16th birthday.
  17. I agree it should be looked at but if someone is inclined to drive while under the influence, will not having their licence change their ways?
  18. No, they are doing some building work near home and thought its a good urban background for a pic. It's actually at the old Rugby radio station, the main building is being renovated.
  19. Don't know about BMW bike engines but some of their cars are less than shining examples of reliability. My own M3 had a big end bearing recall when 18 months old and are still a failure point due to wear, mine will need doing again in the near future.Add to that head gaskets and Vanos problems. Other BM engine types,V8 & V10 also suffer from bearing failure. The N47 diesel engine found in many 1 & 3 series has a major problem with cam chain failure, the fact the chain is at the back of the engine makes changing it an engine out job. The latest M3 & 4 engine has an issue with the cam chain hub slipping on the crank. Makes you wonder how they have this image of engineering marvels.
  20. Some grumpy old bloke on a push bike in Rugby this morning. Walking up to our Sainsburys local which is on a busy main road out of town, heard a lot of cursing behind us. Looked around to see old bloke on bike with a bus and queue of cars behind him. He was cussing really loud " I suppose you are going to f##in follow me all the f##in way up here too" as he pedalled by. The road is fairly narrow and busy and I suspect the bus had been following him for a while and unable to get by, but following at a respectable distance. If it was a problem for him he should have just pulled on to the path and let it by, but that would have been too easy and not give him something to moan about.
  21. My lot in age order; 1970 SS125; 755mm 1975 GT380; 815mm 1993 RGV 250; 695mm 2001 R1; 695mm 2003 Silverwing; 770mm Surprised the R1 and RGV are the same, the 250 is tiny in comparison but I guess the bar's need to be a minimum width to maintain control and a reasonable level of comfort.
  22. I can't see the point of any of it, its just an expensive gadget that I can live without. Spend a ton of money so you can switch a light on while you are out, no thanks, rather spend that on one of the bikes.
