I stapled myself to a curtain tieback once, was in a hurry and instead of using clamp type stapler, I grabbed fixing stapler and promptly put a 14mm t50 staple through it and into my thumn , I didn't laugh at the time.

I dont think there are any quarantine restrictions going to or coming back from France by rail or ferry, not sure where you would stand on the warning against travel still in place by UK gov though.
