  1. We had a Leaf given to us as a courtesy car while my wife's car was in having some work done. We had it two days, I have to admit that it was nice to drive and the acceleration was brilliant. The downside was the milage. I really can't see how they're getting these predicted milages out of them? The drive home was fine, but then as soon as we went out that night, lights on, heater on, radio on, it was actually scary to see how quick the battery started to go down. I did comment on this to the garage when we returned to pick my wife's car up, and he admitted that particular model was more suited for the local runs, apparently they make a different model with greater range? I think if all you want to do it potter around town then they come into there own, for longer distances, I personally wouldn't want one, not that I could afford one anyway
  2. CRF250 is a good little dual purpose, road legal bike, that with a little bit of tweaking is very capable off road. It’s what I used to have. Cheap and economical, parts are also cheap and it was pretty bomb proof. You can pick them up in reasonably good nick depending on budget.

    Stumped

Glad you got it sorted. I must admit that I don't go anywhere near my bike with that shite unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes I have no option but always revert back to the super unleaded (E5) when I get chance.
  4. Certainly sounds like it. Do you have an optimate charger? If so you can connect it and it'll tell you the state of the battery, failing that, as Tiggie said, a multimeter? My old MT10 did exactly the same as your bike when the battery was knackered.
  5. Safety features ..... A brain that doesn't disconnect from your throttle hand when you sling your leg over the bike!
  6. I bought these from Screwfix a while ago for removing a couple of rounded off nuts on a set of engine protector bars, they worked a treat.
  7. S1000RR you'll have no issues at 5'5". However, as Goat said, you can pretty much ride most bikes, most manufacturers sell lowering kits, whether it be OEM or after market.
  8. Great idea and nice work ..... I think you just dipped out on the patent though, a company called Cymarc are already producing them, not cheap either, ÂŁ133.00! You certainly saved yourself a few quid.
  9. Where did you buy that grease from Stu? We were just looking online and could only find the stuff in bulk .... Cheers.
  10. It was Del Boy and Rodders
  11. I'm led to believe that the problem is something to do with that rubber gaiter on the final drive, allows ingress of water?? Apparently BMW know about the issue which is why they're retro fitting these valves. My mate has had his GS now for quite some time and never had any issues, he did get the valve fitted by his local BMW dealer. It only seems to be a minority of bikes that are having the issue. As Steve_M said though, regardless of outcome I certainly wouldn't be happy.
  12. A mate just forwarded these pictures to me, posted on another group. 2017 BMW R1200RT. Apparently heard a bang and loud knocking sound as he accelerated to join the motorway, pulled over and found this!! CV Joint doesn't look good, doesn't look like it's seen any grease in a long time. Water ingress into the final drive housing is apparently an issue, BMW have authorised a modification in the form of a one way valve to allow water to drain out .... Rider of this bike was lucky, make sure you check your final drives guys and gals and get the mod done by your local dealer if needed
  13. Would have been about 1990 for me. Riding a GPZ100RX, came off the A46, down the road from Thurmaston in Leicester, onto a road called Broome Lane, little narrow B road which heads towards Ratcliffe. Nice sunny day, roads were good, came up to quite a tight little right hander just before East Goscote, went round it loads of times with no issues. On this occasion, right on the apex the road was wet, back end of the bike twitched as I hit it and stood up, high sided me into the ditch. I remember laying there for what seemed like forever wondering what I'd broke. In reality all I got were bruises and a seriously fractured ego for going too fast and running out of talent. I was bloody sore for a few days afterwards though. We live and learn, regardless of how many times I ride down country lanes now I never take anything for granted and always expect the unexpected. I've had quite a few instances where that ethos has saved me from serious accidents and injury due to other nobs on the road.
  14. Yes, apparently trying to exhaust all avenues to allow the NW200 to go ahead, time will tell. I fully appreciate what Philip McCallan was saying in his interview regarding getting spectators to pay. I just don't really understand how that would work when racing takes place on public roads? Donations or crowd funding maybe. I think the organisers are being very short sighted, these events bring in thousands for local businesses. Pubs and restaurants when I was there last were heaving!
  15. Thanks, I think the E1 is based on the C5 from what I've read? C5 seems to get pretty good reviews.
  16. As a road racing fan I'm pretty much gob smacked by this news! I'm now dubious, given the way things are, if it'll ever return. Road racing is being pushed into history, just like the clowns that govern this Island seem hell bent on doing with the TT and MGP. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-64591498
  17. Z900 or Triumph Trident 660. One of the guys I go on ride outs with has just bought a Triumph and it seems a pretty capable bike, same as you, he returned to biking about eight or nine months ago. I test rode a newer Z900 and to be honest, although it wasn't for me, it was actually a cracking bike to ride, just not the friendliest of bikes for two up touring.
  18. Anyone on the forum have any experience with the Schuberth E1 helmet? I've been offered a nearly new helmet at a pretty good price, just wondering what they're like in use, fit, comfort, noise suppression? Never used them before, I've pretty much always been a Shoei man. Cheers.
  19. The big issues for me would be cost, range, time to recharge and aesthetics. I'm not against electric bikes so long as I can keep riding my petrol bike. I haven't seen one example yet that would realistically fit in with touring. These things are great as a toy or possibly for commuting, depending on distance covered, but who can afford toys that cost this much!
  20. You're probably right, seems to be down to personal interpretation where some of these parking wardens are concerned
  21. Far too much ambiguity and confusion, why is nothing ever simple! I parked in a bay once, marked as "cycles only". I was there literally for ten minutes. When I returned to the bike, a really abrupt and stroppy traffic warden came up and told me if I park there again he'll ticket me. I argued that the sign said cycles only and I was riding a motor cycle. The sign did not differentiate between motor or peddle powered. He couldn't give me a rational answer, and obviously took umbrage at being challenged, all he kept saying as he walked away was "you've been warned". Personally, had he have given me a ticket, I would have challenged it and appealed, I think mostly you're wasting your time though. I wonder if they make it so confusing for reason.
  22. I have the stop and go tyre repair kit. Never had to use it in anger, but it was recommended to me by a couple of different people over here. Pretty easy to use, gets good reviews and certainly looks like it’ll do the job if needed. The 6000 version comes with a mini compressor, but you can also get the CO2 inflators. Kit without mini compressor should fit under seat
  23. Nice bike with a great engine. If you’re like a lot of people who ride them you’ll probably want the change the screen, one of my biggest gripes, helmet roar from wind noise is horrendous with the OEM screen. I can thoroughly recommend the MRA sport screen. Have fun
