  1. Happy Birthday
  2. Have a good one
  3. it's the groups of riders out pretending to be "tour de' France" wannabes that get up my nose. I was behind a group of them a couple of days ago, massive queue of traffic down a narrow country road, I managed to slowly pick my way towards the front of the queue when I could see if was a group of about eleven riders, all over the road. No one could get past them, and they had no intention of moving over. Which I'm sure is covered under Sect:66 of the Highway code. That said, I've also come across one or two considerate and even helpful cyclists. I think, as with all hobbies and past times, it's a minority that give the majority a bad name, unfortunately I always seem to come across the entitled "Richard Heads".
  4. All the best
  5. I have always found Bennetts and Bikesure very helpful. Ring them and speak to their advisers, as oppose to filling out the online forms. I'm sure they'll be able to give you some advice and help.
  6. Good footage .... Looks pretty professional
  7. Certainly a safer Port to leave your bike by the sounds of it .... Have a good trip
  8. Happy Birthday, all the best
  9. I know well what you mean …. Worked in health for years after coming out of the Army and seen many thought provoking things. It’s always best not to dwell to much on those thoughts, just live life and enjoy it
  10. Pier Head is a known target, especially during TT / MGP periods, they know thousands of bikers are going through those ports and pickings are often made easy fro them. Lost count of how many times I've seen helmets and coats left slung over bikes, even keys in ignitions, it's just not safe to do this anymore. I was under the impression that the Police were going to have an increased presence in these areas because of the crime increase at these times. I suppose they're too busy now dealing with shootings and stabbings!
  11. You're right, always been a problem. My younger brother lives there, he's had his van broken into a couple of times. I had the side window of my car smashed years ago, nothing taken though, that was at Pier Head as well.
  12. If anyone is travelling here for the MGP via Liverpool, watch where you leave your bike. A couple have just reported that they had their GS1200 nicked last night from the car park next to the ferry check in. Apparently a group of scum bags, faces covered. The owners were a couple of hundred yards away. So much for a Police presence at the docks. This has been an issue there for some time, and they know it. I hope they get their bike back but I wouldn't hold out much hope! The investigation will probably start and finish with them being given a crime number and told to contact their insurance company.
  13. I agree with Fiddlesticks. Get yourself down to a couple of show rooms, sit on the different bikes and try them for size .... You're the same height as my mate, he's also quite a big lad in size and opted for and adventure bike, he went for the BMW and loves it, he certainly doesn't look to big on it anyway. Good luck with your hunt.
  14. I had a similar issue a few years ago, drove me mad! I ended up getting an electrician, he found the fault in a couple of minutes, and it was as Bender alluded to, faulty RCD.
  15. I used to use monimoto, not the 7 though, I had the one that looked like a pen. It was pretty good kit, the only thing that had me scratching my head was where to mount it. It was reliable and worked well though, couldn’t really fault it.
  16. Enjoy the trip, I did Scotland this year, didn’t do the NC500, I basically made up my own route and enjoyed the ride. Trip away to Cumbria for me, after MGP, possibly the last holiday trip away this year. Run down to Hayes in November but that’s the pre Christmas visit to see family.
  17. Good luck with finding one that is totally waterproof. I ride year round, and have used Kriega, which are pretty good, as others have said. I currently use one designed for walkers, made by Jack Wolfskin. It has a rechargeable battery that lights a strip around the back of the ruck sack up red, gives greater visibility at night. Even with the waterproof cover over the ruck sack the red light can still be seen. I can't remember how much I paid for it but it would definitely be within you budget.
  18. Let's face it they don't want us using bikes or cars. This is their stupid agenda for forcing people to accept the fact that we have to walk or cycle! I notice that numerous areas now, including here, have something called "project zero" .... It aims at reducing road traffic collisions to zero by 2040! LMFAO! How on hells creation do they really think this is ever going to happen, and who, if anyone, will be held accountable for all the money wasted on this ridiculous project when it ultimately fails .... Is it really any wonder that this country is becoming a global joke .... Personally, I'm considering becoming entrepreneurial and marketing the suits below, to sell to our waste of space, risk averse, councils, who seem to have arrived here from another planet!
  19. Have a good holiday .... Croatia is a cracking place
  20. Have a good one

Had a biggish one here yesterday, down at Groudle, started by a disposable BBQ apparently .... Those will be the next thing to get banned!
  23. I don't know if anyone else here has a tracker fitted to their bike? However, I know I'm a critical t--t, "so my wife says anyway", but credit where it's due. The unit developed a fault and the service I received from Datatool couldn't have been better. Brilliant customer care, new tracker sent out free of charge, fitting arranged and all done under their own warranty. Even follow up contact to make sure I was happy! 1st rate service, I hope I never need to use them or the device in anger, but it gives me reassurance seeing how on the ball they are when a fault develops. I only changed to Datatool earlier this year, I used to use Monimoto, which is also a good option, thus far though, I'm happy with the service.
