Tebay services are the best in the country.. no argument!!
  4. The twisties on the road to, from & past Kemble are awesome
  5. Hopefully no bits of spark plug fell into the cylinder
  6. Intermittent electrical fault sorted: a connector I had disturbed while removing & fitting the engine. exhausts refitted, air cleaners refitted, new iridium spark plugs fitted. Tank drained of about 3 litres of old fuel ( over a year old ) with the current price ( about £6 worth ) I could have cried Wonder if the garage would take it in part ex?
  7. H’mm I thought it was seals that leaked, not bearings? In order to identify the bearing you’ll have to either strip the trike down until you can see the side of the bearing or remove it ( might as well. As your going to replace it ) there’s usually some identification marks you can use to identify it, or use the measurements - type of bearing + inside diameter + external diameter + width. I’m sure someone will be along soon to tell me I’m a Baffoon & will tell you exactly what you need.

Surely if you buy a bike with shaft drive it is also important to check it and know how to maintain it?
  9. Those drinks have an unfortunate delayed effect on my guts & everyone gets to find out
  10. You jammy fukka - enjoy & don’t forget to post some pics
  11. Getting closer, waiting for new spark plugs to be delivered, got to track down the intermittent electrical fault & save up for some E5 …
  12. ‘Ave a good ‘un
  13. Thought this would be the right place for this .. Euro Car parts - with discount
  14. So I’ve got 150 psi across all 4 cylinders Had no spark, but swapped the wires to the coils around and it’s all good
  15. All 4 … it’s a 1200 Triumph Trophy, I’m really chuffed.
  16. That’s what I’ve been doing and have got 150 psi on all cylinders so happy days.
  17. I’m in the midst of sorting out my Trophy engine issues & have got to the point of measuring compression. I have a question about this process - I have a compression tester & on the 1st cylinder when it first cranks for a few revs the gauge shows 125psi but when immediately cranked again it goes up to 150psi, after that it won’t go any higher, which reading should I be using?
  18. So the apparently the parasitic drain was a complete red herring due to my incompetence in identifying that the charger was still plugged in and measuring the health of the battery thus drawing current There does seem to be an intermittent fault though, but at the moment it’s working so I can start testing compression.
  19. Happy birthday young ‘un
  20. Next update… Having got the engine back in the bike & oil / water tight I need to check the compression & make sure the work I’ve done has worked. I have the compression tester but hit a problem - the plug socket (middle) I have is 18mm and the tube for the compression tester wouldn’t fit through it, also the compression tester attachment ( bottom ) is 19mm So I bought a cheap set of box spanner’s from Machine Mart for £10 Then I found that the 19mm box spanner wouldn’t fit down the hole After a bit of work on the bench grinder in now fits And the tube fits through the box spanner So all should be good to start testing…. Except ….. although I made sure the battery was charged a couple of days ago I could get no life out of the bike - I fitted the smart charger and it showed that the battery was low & needed charging I took off the negative battery lead and but my multimeter between it and the battery, low and behold there’s a 125 milliamp parasitic draw ( it has no accessories that might account for this ) so now to try and find out what’s going on, watch this space .. or not
  21. I’ve been to Knockhill a couple of times & luckily had great weather but it is a bit lacking in well.. anything apart from the track, a bit like Mallory.
  22. I’ve spoken to his widow several times since it happened, apparently his struggles were known within the family but he refused to get help & insisted he could sort it. I’d spoken to him a few times in the lead up and had no inkling of what was going on inside his head, he seemed full of optimism for the future ( holidays etc ), if he had told me I wouldn’t have had a clue what to say in response that might have made a difference, people are encouraged to talk about their mental health but what could you say in response that his family hadn’t already said?
  23. Abroad means London right?
  24. I think motorcycle helmets have considerably more features / aspects to consider than flotation devices / life vests … Top Trumps anyone?
