  1. Stirling was the only place I ever got discriminated against for being English, was staying there to watch BSB at Knockhill, me and the Missus went to a nice looking bar and were ignored by the bar staff and verbally abused by some of the customers. As the Missus was with me we just left. Had I been on my own it would have been different coz I was younger, fitter and even more stupid !!
  2. Travelling from Cov to Newquay yesterday I got 7 South West tags traveling 350 miles, the longest I’ve ridden in a single day. However I did get lost quite a lot, adding about an hour to my journey time. I discovered that it was best to use hand written notes until close then use the phone for the last 1/2 mile. The worst / funniest moments were turning round having stopped and paddling the bike backwards into a bit of undergrowth ( the mighty Speedtriple has a rubbish turning circle ) only to drop the back wheel halfway down a ditch, having to dismount and push / drive it out with the rear wheel spinning - this took quite a bit of strength and clutch/throttle control ( and I did it TWICE in different places )thank god for the off road enduro try out days I’ve done. What I want to know is why this essential skill doesn’t make up part of the new test regime??
  3. Leather jacket - size = large Generally good nick £30, pick up from Coventry.
  4. You used a printer - Pah! Infernal high-technology. I scratch route instructions in to my tank using a piece of knapped flint. Now I’m retired, I don’t have access to printer so I have to hand write them, the advantage now is that now one else can tell where I’ve been, or going
  5. Oh god, my head hurts - bloody tech Gonna buy a map
  6. That would be brilliant, but out of stock and discontinued, I shall have more of a furtle to see if anyone else does a similar thing - thanks. Loads of them around, thanks for that, I’ll see if I can get one in time

  8. My battery minder has a Tamiya connector so I’d like to leave it if possible.
  9. True, but you can get chargers that fit into a cars 12v fag lighter socket, they have internal gubbins* that regulate the charge. * Gubbins is a technical term for stuff I don’t understand
  10. Does anyone know if you can buy a lead with a Tamiya female connector and lightning male connector? I ask coz I want to use my I-phone for Google maps as sat nav and the obvious power supply on the mighty Speedtriple is via the Tamiya connector that exits from the LH side of the tank I’m off on a trip down to Newquay ( Cornwall ) on Saturday and want to bag the Devon tags on the way there and the way back, without using Motorways ( coz they’re boring ) and it’s a bit convoluted, don’t usually worry about getting lost as it’s part of the fun, but I want to be there before midnight!!
  11. FFS - that was awesome, I reckon most other riders would have bailed out. Looking in slow mo, it looked like his knee slider twisted round to the side and destabilised him?
  12. Ta for the advice, I’ll do that and replace the seal. Won’t know if it works until everything is all together.
  13. Like peeling the layers away of a bad onion (1994 Triumph Trophy) I found evidence that the Clutch Release (slave) cylinder has sprung a leak. Having disassembled it with the intention of replacing the seal, I have found a witness mark within the cylinder created by the bike being unused for 3 years (see photo) I can hardly feel it with my finger nail, would a quick wipe round with 1200 grit wet and dry to remove it be ok or am I looking at a complete (expensive) replacement? P.S. if you ever do this, ferchrists sake be careful, I used a bicycle pump to pressurise the piston out, because it was slightly stuck it suddenly flew out at quite a rate, luckily I had it wrapped in rags.
  14. It was ok, not far from Cov, went with a mate I hadn’t seen for a while so wandered about chatting and ng at the bikes. Only saw 1 RGV so must have been Bianco’s. The stalls were mostly selling generic unnamed cheap stuff, plus some deserving charity stalls that relieved me of a couple of quid. Recognised some of the more outstanding bikes from the Rugby Fest. Had a beer watching a Loony Karaoki bloke and had a lamb tikka wrap. It was on the small side and I probably should have gone to the one at Lincoln today ( and bagged a few tags on the way ), but my mate couldn’t make it. 2 hours max did it twice.
