Just picked up a smart phone holder £6:99 from the dreaded centre isle at Aldi (I shouldn’t go there as I have magpie eyes for shiny trinkets) it’s allegedly waterproof with a earphone / charging in/outlet and it clamps to your bars. Now here’s the rub - it was on sale with the cycle stuff - will it be suitable to be used at motorbike speeds? Anyone tried one? I’d like to know in case I end up with a squished I-phone Mickly

Riding Pillion, having had 2 offs as a pillion I would rather crawl than accept a lift on the back of a bike.

Waterproofing Boots
Mickly replied to Lanceautoman's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I bought some Alpinstars smx5 WP boots, after 2 years of weather proection ( provided I wore my trousers outside of them ) using a preventative maintenance mind set I treated them with Nikwax - what a bloody stupid idea, it seems that the WP coating resisted the Nikwax and just left it dried to the outside and now difficult to remove, you live and learn. Wow, a free extra bonus Yum yum, fry it with a little garlic, chilli and a squeeze of lemon and it would pass for any of the pretentious bollox pedalled by the latest bunch of life style gurus Mickly

It would be a chat over a cup of tea or a soft drink as Henry Cole is teetotal, due to excesses earlier in life, still might be a good Gas though. Mickly

Lots of work cleaning it up, but now ready to go to the blasters / craters

The ones I’ve looked at on evil bay also have some damage of some sort. I’ve dressed the chain adjuster with a file Here it is next to the non damaged one. The damaged one is at the top. Took a while and reminded me of the punishment for digression as an apprentice - squaring a block of roughly cut steel with a file. Gonna ask the powder coating guy for advice on the gouge in the arm it’s self.

What kind of £££ would I be looking at?

I’m trying to slowly create a stripped down cafe racer from a lardy 1200 Triumph Trophy, the latest issue I’ve come across is some damage to the swinging arm. I was cleaning all the cr*p off it and uncovered this: Only the previous owner could say how it happened. It’s about 1mm deep. The question is whether it can be polished out without compromising it’s integrity ( it will be powder coated) Or will it need repairing with a infill weld? Or ( heaven forbid) does it need replacing? Any other options you can think of ( a match in the tank is not one I’m prepared to consider) ? Mickly
