Something like this? I've used this when it's really pouring out. It kept me dry if that's all you need https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/390564

I'd imagine a hgv comes out on top in most crashes. These figures are a % of deaths in contrast to year 1. If there are relatively few hgv deaths then a couple over or above average will have a larger effect on say bicycles

Nolan n87 great helmet for reasonable price

I got a new hjc i70 for £80 a few weeks ago. 4* sharp, sunvisor, etc. Bargain -
Walking along a fairly quiet road today (footpath on both sides 20mph limit) people at the kerb waiting to cross. Oncoming car hit the brakes to let them cross. No other cars for over 100 yards. I saw this twice in a few minutes. I'm pretty sure this is wrong by the drivers. If you're in a car turning into a road you've to let people by but not if they just decide to cross the main road.

I do the same as MikeHorton. Since, spray foam, leave for a little bit. Cleaning the bike start at the top and work your way down. No point cleaning wheels then doing the frame and having that gunk land on your clean wheels. I haven't.got a stand for the bike. I have a roller I put the bike on. That way you can spin the wheel without having to move the bike. Once it's clean and dry then lube the chain and put on a layer of spray to help protect the clean bike. Final step is to go for a quick spin then look at the bike covered in crud and start over again.

My situation is pretty close to yours but I have a few years NCB and my insurance quotes are double yours. God I need to get out of London -
Bike Insurance Prices for Lexmoto Tempest 125cc
daveinlim replied to Matt88's topic in Motorbike Chat
Buying a Chinese bike will probably depreciate more than a Japanese bike. It will probably be easier to sell on when too when the time comes. -
I've renewed on my 125. I've a list of bikes, all under 650 cc that I'd be happy on but insurance is too high and I'm. It willing to spend that much. Might as well just get taxis everywhere at them rates
-
Done my renewal. Unfortunately MCE still well cheaper. However the quote (even though I have another year NCB) has gone up £50. Excess has come down from £1k to 650.
-
Thanks this is helpful. My renewal is mid February. Going getting some quotes this morning and hoping I don't have to sell a kidney
-
Yeah same for me. Helmets and gloves are all very different for various manufacturers.

I've got RST "blade" two piece suit in black. I've it advertised on here. Need rid so open to an offer. Based in London

It's going to make for a lot of fun in central London at commuter hours
-
They will have no problems quoting you I just want to have as little issues as I can should I need to claim some day
-
I've just been on MCE live chat. It's back up and running. They said they are going to honour my policy that is 11/12 fulfilled. One thing I asked is that having a few years NCB and just done my das they said to put the original date of obtaining my provisional licence as the date for my licence. I'd have thought that I would put in the date I did my DAS.

Lidl have something similar this week. £30 and it goes up to 60psi. No idea how accurate it is though. It does look larger than your one so may not be as portable- 1 reply

I'm moving slightly out of London soon. Put the quotes in for the new area I'll be in and quotes are 1/3 of what they are for now.

Helmet
daveinlim replied to Jamie-meadtriumph's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
hjc are a big well known brand, they make a lot of great helmets. They don't have a lot of fancy extras that others might have but having said that they do tend to offer great bang for your buck. I don't know this lid but I've had a couple of hjc in the past and been happy with them all. They tend to get 4 or 5 stars in SHARP tests so I doubt you can go wrong as long as it fits well. -
Insurance is just a joke. I'm looking for a new commuter bike. Quotes on a random assortment.of bikes. 3 yr NCB 35+ no points, downside is parked on street. 2020 BMW g310r 950 2020 Benelli leoncino 1400 2020 cbr500 1800 2020 cb500 1700 2016 cb650f 1200 2017 er6n 1100 2014 sv650s 800 2010 gsx650f 1950. Bike sure we're £2,800 on a bike that's valued at £3,500. What a farce. None of these bikes are over 90bhp, none of them valued at over £5k yet insurance quotes are all coming in on average at 25% of the value of the bike. What was the point in doing my DAS.
-
What's your budget, licence held, does it need to be ulez compliant? I'm basically looking for the same thing. 90% city riding with a bit or a road and motorway. Something narrow for nipping through traffic. I'd need something that doesn't get charged for London, so euro 3+ and under £4k so it's not something theives will desire
-
Dealers offering insurance on bikes could help. It would be more competition at least
-
That's it. I don't think driving in London is all that more dangerous than anywhere else but the risk of theft is significantly higher than anywhere else in UK. Theft to use the bike in further crimes and theft to actually sell the bike on. Given that many in London won't have off street parking then the insurers can further bump up their prices. Even with crime rates falling it's not reflected in quotes
-
I'd imagine a lot. I'm with them and they were quoting me well under half what the next highest was. I use my bike primarily to commute. Im working from home most days now and if insurance jumps up I don't know if I can justify the cost. I'm not paying £1k a year in insurance on a £2k bike.
-
I've asked them to send my NCB too. I doubt they will.
