  1. I've had mine for just over a year. I commute on it in to London daily (pre covid). I think it has the lightest bhp to weight ratio for 125s. It's nippy for a 125 , much more so than my previous honda cb125f. It is advertised as over 100 mpg but I don't know what I'm getting. I've not checked but I put about £5 a week in the tank. I use a 37L top box regularly which is perfect on the bike. I think I've hit 65 on the north circular even with the box on and full of stuff. There are the usual after market parts available bit mines standard. https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/street/gsx-s125/ https://www.thebikemarket.co.uk/reviews/suzuki-gsx-s125-2017
  2. I have a Suzuki gsxs 125. 15bhp, light and easy to handle with Japanese reliability. I can't recommend it highly enough.
  3. I'm thinking of getting a sv650 for commuting but I don't like the headlight. Are you saying if I take out the existing bulb and stick an led in it is illegal but if I replace the whole thing with something like in the link below then it is ok? Presuming that it is marked ok for road use etc. https://www.ledperf.co.uk/led-headlight-for-suzuki-sv-650-x-round-motorcycle-optics-approved-p-33060.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAl4WABhAJEiwATUnEFx0kltUCkSVgrgP_zoulDHc5dWHjd-bp_2blV5MbVpp4pa6s6KOAoBoCvScQAvD_BwE
  4. My little Suzuki got a little clean recently before being stored away over Christmas and New year. Such a great bike, I can't believe Suzuki go from 125 up to 750 and nothing in between for this model.
  5. If you're not used to running then go to a proper running shop and speak to someone that knows trainers and what will suit you. Flat feet wide feet running gait etc all affect what what will suit you. My gf did the couch to 5k. She hates the first few days but stuck with it and now she's running basically every other day.
  6. How do you find the five gloves? I'm tempted to get a pair of them, although the variations for their heated gloves is a bit confusing. I have a pair of five gloves I use I'm warmer times and they fit perfectly so I'm tempted but they are a bit expensive

  8. My first ride after CBT was to collect my new cb125 from the Honda dealer. I was excited but still waited for the Honda guy to leave before I set off incase I made an idiot of myself in the first few yards. That drive home brought me down country lanes, a roads, the steepest hill I've ever seen and in through London. It took about 45 minutes but felt like forever. However I did love it Also that day i learned honda accept credit cards for deposits not for the balance. Lucky I had money in savings to cover it.
  9. No nothing changed at all which was kind of the nail in the coffin. Things weren't great but I had my head in the sand. Marriage just highlighted it and some very expensive lessons were learned
  10. Met at 16, married at 29, divorced at 30. That was a few years ago now. Both of us have met someone since and much happier. If it's not right then talk it out and fix it or move on.
  11. I've been using a pair Merlin G24 outlast boots. They have kept my get nice any comfy on every journey so far. https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/merlin-g24-altitude-outlast-waterproof-tour-boot?gclid=CjwKCAiA-_L9BRBQEiwA-bm5fka8bjE0WXciS65uKUuMKCQetUFQngWyA89mQX-DjDVkDXfok_b4HBoCV-cQAvD_BwE They are probably available from SBS too
  12. Do you own a bicycle? Riding a bicycle, learning to lean it and balance etc will help. Also you'll get used to being on the road on two wheels.
  13. Todays nob is the teenage Muppet on his e scooter thing that ran a red light to cross 6 (yes 6) lanes of traffic as all their lights turned green on a 40 mph road. Special mention (on the same journey) to the young woman in a new VW polo. She overtook my bike, her doing about 40 in a 20 zone at night and then had to slam her brakes to not hit the concrete island in the middle of the road.
  14. Regardless of whatever security you have make sure you're steering lock is always used. It is a bit of security that can be beaten in seconds but insurance companies will check if it was used and if not they won't pay out even if they thief has had to cut through other locks and chains
  15. If it's already discounted then they won't be likely to budge on price. As was said earlier it depends on how desperate they are to shift it. Also, bike dealers (fromwhat I understand) don't have a lot of wiggle room with regards to price when compared to car dealers. However all you can do is chance it. Worst happens is they say no. Then they might be able to do you deals on accessories or throw in the 1st service or something
  16. The trade deal is supposedly similar to the eu one but with extra detail regarding digital items. So I can't see any savings for buyers. Even if there are savings, the dealers or someone will sweep this up along the way.
  17. I did this with a car. Flew from Belfast to exeter. Bought the car and drove back. I did it as the car I wanted never had many for sale locally and the one in England was a great deal so worth the trouble. However if you're spending £4k on a bike you're not going to save much coming over to England. The cost of a ferry over and back plus fuel, food, tolls etc. And in the end you might not like the bike at all and be a waste of time. For popular bikes like a mt07 or er6n there must be some decent ones closer to home. Also (if I remember correctly) you will need to register the bike at the DVA in NI which probably costs something too.
  18. I couldn't see any option for express delivery not sure what I missed. Wow nice gloves, but pricey, I wonder how they compare to the lesser priced gloves? I've used alpinestars and five gloves before the Knox ones. Last winter I used five wfx skin WP gloves. They are warm enough down to about 10C or so for up to an hour commute. After that your hands are cold. They are fairly well protected with hard armour including scaphoid sliders. They are nice and light and not at all bulky. I think they sell for £75. The Knox zero 3 are much thicker and warmer. They don't feel heavy bit they are thicker so they don't feel as number as the five ones. They feel safer than my old gloves too. However I'm not sure if they are a little small. Ally other gloves are large. These may have needed a size up. I'll do a review of them after a few winter commutes
  19. I've gone for a pair of Knox zero 3 MK2. They just arrived so I've not worn them out yet but will do later in the week. Initial impression is quite good. They are much thicker than my Five brand winter gloves but may be more clunky. However it should be ok once they break in.
  20. Yes it does help a little but it depends on what angle the rain is coming in at and how hard its hammering down. The best thing about a peak in the shorter days is using it to block out the sun when it is low in the sky, combine that with a pinlock protec tint to remove glare and its perfect. I use the protec tint inserts in all my helmets (yes double the price) but it is the best compromise and as I wear glasses it means I don't have to faff with sunglasses or worry about tunnels or staying out later than usual and having to rush home because I have a dark tint visor on. Yeah it is probably hit and miss on the visor depending on the rain, wind, the type of bike and speed you're doing. I have an inbuilt visor on my current helmet that works a treat and a normal pinlock. The peak on an adventure lid probably isn't worth the investment
  21. Would an adventure style helmet be of use commuting on rainy days. When I'm stopped at lights I'll often need to open my visor. Then rain gets in sometime and on my glasses. Would the peak on an adventure lid help to stop this? Would it work only when stopped or help on the move to up to town/city speeds
  22. I'm only 3 years on 2 wheels but a very long time driving. My tips are. 1. Wear layers. Once you're moving on the bike it's a lot colder that it is walking around. 2. Make sure you're in waterproof kit. I have a textile suit and full boots to keep me warm. But I also wear an over jacket and trousers in bad rain. I use rst textiles and armr brand overs. No point spending a fortune on stuff. The over stuff keeps your main kit dry so after work you're not putting on water soaked protection. 3. BE REALLY CAREFUL FILTERING OR OVERTAKING. In the dark and the rain you are very hard to be seen. Oncoming traffic might not see you filtering and you could have a head on collision or get clipped. 4. Kind of related but leave extra time for your journey bad weather. 5. Make sure your bike is safe, tyres are ok etc. Keep it clean and get the salt off it to stop it causing damage.
