  1. Probably the best point on this thread. With no experience, insurance may be astronomical or unavailable altogether
  2. After work yesterday there was a new lambo 4x4 thing driving through town with an exhaust that would drown out a wrc car waiting to launch. It was popping and banging so loud doing 4 mph that it kept setting off alarms on bikes and cars that it passed. There should be some limit for something that obnoxious but those in power will want everything to be as quiet as a Tesla
  3. Dad can take from 2 to 5 days. I did a split course over 4 days. I did a day training then on day two I did the first test where I did my slalom, figure of 8 etc. Then I had a week break as if you fail the first test you can't rebook if you have test 2 the next day. So they advised leave about a week break then do the on the road test. Same as before, did one day training and then the test the next day. This was the best setup for me. But you could do more or less days depending on what you need.
  4. Washed my bike on the driveway on Sunday, 4 separate people stopped to comment on it. Not bad for a 125 .
  5. Central London needs more Greggs. Just cause I'm wearing a suit doesn't mean I won't eat a couple sausage rolls
  6. What about normal glasses, they are no different. Of they allow glasses then they would allow prescription sunglasses
  7. Many boots are water resistant if not waterproof. Our weather is rarely 100% guaranteed not to rain. Don't buy used boots unless the original owner hasn't used them. Used boots will have wear from the original owner and won't fit your foot properly even if you're the same size. I have leather boots from Merlin. Nice and protective. They have "outlast" which basically a wax built in that absorbs excess heat in the warmth and releases it back to you when cold. Worn them 2 years and I've no complaints. Zip or boa closure is probably what you need. I don't like laces personally. Tcx and falco do good casual looking boost. This site has an affiliate link for sportsbikeshop. They have tons of kit on there
  8. I had a new cb125f as my first bike. Did the job well. Changed to a used Suzuki gsxs125 after a truck driver decided to reverse over my Honda one day. I bought new as I knew very little about bikes so I figured at least new I wouldn't be buying a dud. However make a few sensible checks and buying is relatively straightforward. Also depreciation on used 125cc bikes is minimal. The Suzuki is a much better bike than the Honda. More power, better brakes, abs, led lights etc. Buying secondhand from a dealer would save in depreciation compared to new and you'd still have the safety of buying from a business than an individual. You'll struggle for "vintage" on a 125 as eventually they all end up on their sides.
  9. No point dumping them then if they are paying for something.
  10. Yeah your shares will likely go down a bit. This is normal for a share after a dividend has been paid out. It's slightly less attractive as you've to wait another term for the next share but it'll pop back up. You're basically just getting a bumper divided. Aviva is a good one for dividend historically. Obviously your tactic is more volatile than a deposit account but should be better on long run.
  11. Basically Aviva is flush with cash. The have sold 8 non core businesses They have more cash than they need so are returning some to shareholders and then revaluing the shares after to reflect the new position. They are also set to pay out a ln increased dividend too. You won't need to do anything, should all happen automatically.
  12. A fool and their money are easy parted. I'd love to try it. But then risk loosing out on a grand if it backfires and SBS takes my money
  13. Akrapoviic have released the world's first performance exhaust designed exclusively for electric motorcycles. You can set your sound to the type of motor you desire. Plus low-carbon fibre construction, definitely one for the future. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/650272?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ML-010422 Akrapovolt (UMWHY5)&m=email&p=01FCB2ED73Z96ZMN15H8PGSR3A&z=klaviyo&r=ML-010422&_kx=gc_kU9-Wimv981KNyYG07xQ3jqpL7pGAojhakncjVWw%3D.SK2Xaf
  14. I'll definitely be test riding a lot of options. Wont be any more exciting than some sort of reliable 650 though.
  15. Now you're talking. I could fit a lot of baggage in there too
  16. Do they take much breaking in. I use Knox gloves for this winter and they took forever to break in. Great gloves in the end but they take work to make them fit
  17. Got my email saying I'll receive a cheque within 3 weeks. Didn't say how much though.
  18. I'm looking at changing my bike at some point this year. I've only ever ridden naked bikes. I ride all year round as I commute into London. I'm moving a little further out so my commute will be longer and also have some motorway miles. With a longer journey and faster roads should I consider a bike with a bit more plastic. For example the Honda's cb650r Vs CBR 650r. Same engine, suspension etc, some differences in seating position due to handle bars. Would the CBR be more comfortable in winter as it's has more protection. Or given that over half my journey is still going to be in traffic, going slow or filtering will the extra bodywork on the CBR make any difference at all.
  19. Not tried them yet. They look like a decent glove for the money. Summer weather is still a bit away so I'll wait a while and see if any sales are put on for summer gear as I need a few things
  20. I've just checked our local Greggs. Today's lot of TGTG sold out at 10pm last night.
