  1. Yes I like a normal camp chair it makes the whole experience much more pleasant and being cold or uncomfortable at night is a massive no no for me. I dont pack any of that food though, in this country I have tended to just take tea, coffee and a small travel bottle with oil or ghee in it. The rest I do a click n collect at whatever the nearest supermarket is. That way you can pick up ice, beers, water, bread and anything else you want quickly without wandering around an unfamiliar supermarket trying to remember you did in fact fancy mustard with the sausages
  2. I have watched a few of his off road vids and they have been useful. Just got on my pip in this one deliberately dropping the bikes!
  3. I have a cynical suspicion the billions of pounds borrowed will mean politicians of all countries won’t care about new coronavirus’ unless they see rising hospital admissions or an increasing death toll that makes them unpopular and unless that happens in the main foreign money in the tourist industry coffers would be more than welcome. But yes I could envisage exactly the scenario you outline with Germany, a plan b is wise thing to have under your hat.
  4. Stopped watching after 2 mins, waiting to get over irritation at the ‘cool guy’ antics that is really bike abuse! Rectangular flat top aluminium panniers can double up as a seat, a table top, a step stool or somewhere to put a stove on when you’re fed up grovelling on the floor. Not that I have them, I’ve just seen people use them that way, an advantage over what they’re plugging.
  5. Yer that’s the thing. Have always used one so far and like it, which reminds me it does go under the tent completely covered
  6. A freebie of unknown origins that I thought I’d give a whirl before eventually splashing out on the real deal. Have an extremely large two person tent (says it’s for 9 on the box but we do like a bit of space) and have just been offered a two man which if it was great wouldn’t be being got rid of so I imagine it’s quality is dubious Want a separate ground sheet as Gerontious pointed out some time ago apart from the extra penetration protection it’s easier to deal with mud, slugs n slime on a separate sheet.
  7. My brother is clearing out camping gear and has a dubious sounding tent I’m willing to give a go but there’s no ground sheet (amongst other things). I can’t remember if the ground sheet is supposed to stick out from tent a smidge (I have a feeling not because the rain could pool right?) or should it be completely covered by the tent by a couple of centimetres? Need to buy a tarp so could do with knowing for the size. Thanks anyone.
  8. Oh you’ve missed so much... let me fill you in- mostly with some and a bit of oh and the occasional
  9. Hey my favourite goat... oops forgot about The Goat, oh well, it’s done now. Wotcha been up to?
  10. It’s all moving forward Plan B sounds intriguing.
  11. Goooooo Carrasco “unstoppable”.... apart from crashing which is a little bit like stopping..
  12. Good on him but what scum stealing from someone helping (scum anyway but that’s definitely icing).
  13. It puts em off taking it into mud My immediate thought was transformers, robots in disguise
  14. A 228 kilo bike pictured in the dirt. Did they get a crane to lift it in and out for the shot?
  15. Woke up this morning to see more flashing lights than at a 90’s rave. There’s not normally a vehicle in sight but two fire engines, four police cars, two ambulances and eventually frogmen are all clogging up the road. There was a Jag upside down in the ditch, the cab underwater and the doors shut so no way of knowing if someone was trapped inside. Fortunately there wasn’t but unfortunately for the four men who towed the thing down the lane and then spent yonks trying to push it in the ditch there is CCTV on those buildings It’s the most entertaining 20 mins CCTV I’ve ever watched, hilarious, they get the car half in but it won’t go all the way so they have to pull it back out (not easy) and take a run up at it, took them ages. It was 16.45 so daylight with confused dog walkers going by! Anyway if your inclined towards insurance fraud then after dark and torch the thing is favoured route for that lane, idiots
  16. I was gonna suggest toilet paper but Husoi beat me to it! That’s how I found the completely invisible leak in a bend... after spending muchos spondulix on a new machine
  17. A VPN can be useful. I was in Montenegro (obviously a while ago ) and despite assurances that my mobile would work Montenegro’s half in half out the EU arrangement meant it didn’t. Had to move a large sum of money while there and was extremely grateful not to have to use the hotels unsecured WIFI (not even a password to access it) so it’s useful for using with unknown wifi networks. Then there’s China’s firewall (and other countries who restrict access) which I’ve been very grateful to be able to get around when I was lost and needed unrestricted access to download maps (China is unsurprisingly the worlds largest VPN customer base). Then finally there’s the bit when you’re away and the services you pay good money for won’t allow you access because you’re not in your home country (eg Netflix, Prime or the BBC), enter VPN and problem fixed. It’s sold as internet without borders and it works. I wouldn’t say I’ve watched stuff on Netflix America because I’m not sure if contractually I’m allowed to but if I did it was delicious not to pay for it while the streaming companies shuffle programmes back n forth to extract every last penny from you and particularly as us in the UK we seem to be paying a lot more for these things than our American counterparts, cash cows that we are.
  18. Yes well good luck to anyone trying to persuade my other half not to scratch his ears It’s a frightening sight and no surprise the cotton bud tip came off! I agree completely with your audiologist, wouldn’t recommend anyone shoving things down their ears but if you happen to have done a brief stint ear syringing as a community nurse and have an auroscope then you can get away with a certain amount of liberties removing oomska. But back on topic. I like signal more than whatsapp just because it works across devices so when I haven’t looked at my phone for days I don’t get stroppy messages from people who think I’m ignoring them!
  19. What is this DuckDuckGo? Last April my husband managed to leave the tip of a cotton bud down deep in is lughole, not wanting to go to A&E at peak infection time I googled for the paraphernalia to fish it out. Now almost a year later I still open safari to be bombarded with lumps of ear wax. It’s gross. So will duckduckgo stop this?
