  1. I quite like trains and if I'm going to London which in normal times I quite often do I always take the train as driving and parking in London is insanely expensive.
  2. Back in December I had to go into London- bear in mind this was about 10 days before Christmas when normally everything is heaving - the train in at peak commuting time was at most 25% occupied; the one home in midafternoon was even less. Hopefully this miserable f**king existence isn't going to be the new normal.

A lot of the shops round here are doing on line stuff with either free local delivery or click and collect. The high street as we knew it might have gone forever but many are still soldiering on. As for some things you can't beat trying stuff on particularly if you are a nonstandard size. Times are a-changing though.
  4. Interesting guy with an interesting background.
  5. Karaoke - Japan's revenge for WW2
  6. They put the wind up just about everybody and got badly hammered when the crowns of England and Scotland united as playing both sides off didn't work anymore.
  7. Not the Judean Liberation Army?
  8. It may give you a slight reduction in insurance. Put in for quotes on a comparison site with it fitted and without and see what difference you get. If your bike is somewhere where theft is an issue it may help you recover it. I have basic datatag but no tracker as bike theft in my area isn't really a thing except very rarely.
  9. From the OP I got the impression it was aimed at bringing all biker organisations under one roof as it were and to give us a coherent voice in the public sphere.
  10. Nope. My family were apparently reivers from the English side in Cumberland and Northumberland. Mainly Forsters and Grahams. In their time they were considered seriously naughty people.
  11. Ships will keep on going for a while yet. Cheapest way to move large quantities long distances. A number of new ships are being built using LNG as fuel but still basically an ICE. Wind power can't really manage anything bigger than about 10,000 tonnes and electric? Ha Ha.
  12. John Deere is new to me. Caterpillar diesels are quite common as small boat engines and some of the larger ones (1000 KW) are used as gensets. Ditto Perkins.
  13. Must be a close relation to the one I saw in Stroud except his was a Tesco bag. Also hanging off his left wrist.

Never had same day delivery from amazon. Unless its a pay more extra as I'm too tight to pay anything for delivery if I can avoid it.
  15. I assume it was tongue in cheek. If not the correct answer is "f**k off", other words added at your discretion
  16. Never test rode my current bike which I bought from new. My test ride was driving it home from Central London to Gloucestershire- quite an experience!
  17. We're halfway up what counts for a hill hereabouts. It's not that high but steep and the prevailing westerlies come roaring up the valley and hit us dead on. A plus though is we are sheltered from the relatively rare but usually freezing North-easterlies.
  18. Been pretty wild and wooly here all day. Had to go out so took the bike. Having done what I needed decided to go for a bimble. Got up on to the Common and almost got blown off. Discretion being the better part of valour I went home. Now listening to the wind howling round the house but warming myself with a very nice glass of rum.
  19. I feel for you. Eons ago I had to occasionally buy stuff printed by HMSO - by the time something became available I'd inevitably moved on to something else. I once got penalised because I did not have a copy of the latest edition of a Statutory Instrument on board. Unfortunately HMSO hadn't yet got it printed and made available to the retail agents. Hmph.
  20. When I realise that UK drivers aren't really that bad.
  21. There's loads of really nice villages and pubs in the Cotswolds - trouble is all the well known ones like Bibury and Bourton on the Water etc are tourist rip offs. To find the decent pubs you need to get off the beaten track a bit. Also how many of them have survived this last year is anyone's guess.
  22. Reason I still like my job. When I'm away I literally live it but that's fine because there's nowt else to do. When I'm home I don't even think about it and rarely have emails or online meetings etc. This leave I had one for about an hour concerning an event in Nigeria. The rest of the time I can do my own thing regardless, Covid restrictions excepting of course. One reason they piss me off so much.
  23. Well I can definitely say speaking as a man that Woody Harrelson is one ugly sob.
