  1. Their reputation is certainly poor.
  2. My prediction is for Spain to win - 3:1.
  3. As a seaman I can travel on my UK Seaman's Book. It's a legal travel document but it's a bit bizarre as its valid for life or until all pages are full. The only time I did use it for that was in 2001 and the SB was issued in 1977. The photo wasn't too accurate! Nobody batted an eye.
  4. Well my muppets in Mumbai sent me an email early this morning to tell me I am going to Singapore on the 22nd after all. I'm also on holiday with the mini orcs so I'm not able to give them all the inane paperwork they want. As I've been in the company for 20 years I think they've probably already got it. Bampots.
  5. Be interesting to see what effect these new cameras will have. Supposed to be able to pick up on that kind of thing.
  6. Obviously things have changed. I had a passport stolen in Singapore in 2001, got a police report and flew home on my seaman's book. Once home I went to the then newly opened Passport Office in Durham. I applied over the counter and got my passport later the same day. Things definitely don't always improve with time!
  7. Dunno. Wouldn't that also bake in road crap and incinerated insects? I know the state my exhaust is in after a ride.
  8. I'm taking a bottle of 21 yo malt to get me through.
  9. Well that didn't last long! Due to manning requirements I'm not going to join the ship in Singapore but will be returning to "my" ship which is heading to somewhere "in the Pacific " - place and date TBC. Big place the Pacific.
  10. Going away with all 4 grandchildren on Friday. However have just found out I'm off to Singapore on 22nd so I'll get back from hols, unpack and repack and fly next day. At least it will be warm!
  11. As Pirellis are now all made in China it will be stuck on a ship somewhere having to come the long way round as nobody is using the Red Sea at the moment.
  12. This weekend was the Cotswolds Show in Cirencester and I feel sorry for all the poor sods who did all the work prepping for it. This weekend has been a total washout with really heavy rain today and persistent rain yesterday. Finally stopped this evening about 1900. Due to resume pissing down around noon tomorrow.
  13. No it's not good. It's still crap - cold and wet.
  14. Took it out for a 20 mile errand. Dug out my full winter gear and was glad I had. 10 C is not my idea of a July temperature. Where's this bloody global warming then?
  15. What is this good morning malarkey? It's not good at all! It's freezing cold and pissing down! Hate this bloody weather.
  16. Pretty sure I'd victimise anyone who asked me to do that to any coffee I was making.
  17. A hell of a lot is confidence too. It's quite surprising how many people seem to lack that even though they are otherwise experienced road users.
  18. I've been to Sintra, it was rather nice as I remember.
  19. I fancy Portugal too but I'm a random traveller. I hate being timetabled and on a schedule. Enjoy your trip though, whenever and wherever you go.

Once very early in my biking career (1979) due to my ambition outweighing my competence and a couple of stationary drops in the last few years but nothing in the last 2.
  21. Some of my wife's family comes from that part of Northumberland. Sadly all the ones who lived up there are no longer living. The rest were from Coquetdale and Humshaugh.
  22. Washed it - mainly removing 600 miles worth of insect splatter.
  23. I would too in that position but because of the unique tax status of seamen in the UK I can't actually earn any income in the UK without making my entire income taxable whereas in a normal year it is exempt.
  24. Happy birthday! You're almost as old as me but I'm still not taking pension as I'm still working.
