  1. Nah, I'm still riding it although sometimes it's because I have no choice. After 5 years it's not yet collapsed into a pile of rust.
  2. If you live close to the channel ports I suppose its fair enough but generally if you are going to Holland any ferry to the Hook of Holland is better. I think they run from Immingham, Felixstowe and possibly Harwich.
  3. On board ship we have a gym. I visit it once a week on Sunday inspection; the thought of actually using it gives me palpitations. I'm told it works okay but if you're more than 5'10" you need to bend on.the treadmill as you'll hit your head. Who knew?
  4. Well done you! Now enjoy your riding.
  5. I use heated gloves and as long as my ride is less than 3 hours they're fine. Over that I use the plug in liners and Richa winter gloves.
  6. Bicester? Misery for me as I hate shopping.
  7. Just ride it. Never wrap it up for winter.
  8. I'm forever getting alerts that some naughty scallywag is trying to sign on to my Facebook or Instagram account which makes me laugh. I don't subscribe to either and never have.
  9. Rode it to Northumberland. 30 miles on fun roads and 350 miles of motorway. Boring and most of it not even fast these days. Also gives a sore bum.
  10. Where I go (Alan Grace, Wiltshire) the guy gives it the most thorough clean it ever gets then blow dries it before applying whatever coating you decide. My bike lives outside and its in pretty decent nick given its 5 years old.
  11. All Year Biker is what I use and I recommend them. However it won't stop you getting a rusty sheen on your discs. You can try various polishes and stuff but they may adversely affect your braking.i just spray mine with a disc brake cleaner and wipe down regularly.
  12. Forgot about the Hesketh but yes a certain resemblance.
  13. Tasty looking bike and not much sign of HD dna other than the engine.
  14. Multistrada's rear fender seems to act more as a muck spreader. Bike ends up filthy in any sort of clarty weather and I HATE cleaning it although I do.
  15. Mine won't even think of buying a tree before Dec 20th. Probably why we get some odd trees.
  16. Planning to enjoy the day with a large joint of (rare) beef and some red wine. Something I've been deprived of since the middle of July. Weather is filthy so no desire to go anywhere for fun although my beloved is muttering about healthy walk along the Cotswold Way. Not too keen on that idea!
  17. Someone has nicked it.
  18. War and pestilence accounts for some but a hell of a lot is our own successive governments having no proper plan for energy supplies. For example per unit costs of electricity in the USA are half what they are in the UK. That's because they have more generating power than us and partly because they produce a huge amounts of oil and gas of their own including by fracking. Of course in the UK that's a no-no. They are actually selling LNG and crude oil to us at a very nice profit thank-you very much. We are the world's leading suckers.
  19. Getting up at silly o'clock to help my son shift a double bed. The excitement is all too much.
  20. Fitted the battery, started it, played a bit but then went out for lunch with wife. New battery should hopefully be good for a wee while and I won't be riding it by then as hopefully I'll have traded up for a V2S.
  21. Bought a new battery. Need to fit it when it stops raining. Bah humbug.
  22. With you on Fertan. Not so much on Stainless as it depends on the grade. Some are definitely better than others and you can avoid galvanic corrosion if its fitted right.
  23. I'll be taking mine for its annual coating by All Year Bikers down in Wiltshire. Seems to work reasonably well given my bike lives outside and is only garaged when I'm in foreign parts.
  24. Rode it home from Surrey with no actual rain. Battery was a bit flat so probably looking at replacing it. It's the original so over 5 years old and it gets left standing for 3-5 months so not ideal.
