  1. This weekend I'll be prepping my bike for a trip up to Northumberland. Last year when I went north at this time of year it pissed down all the way up. I was dry but chilled by the damp. Hoping for a drier experience this time. Don't particularly like riding at the weekend as there's too many 4 wheeled halfwits on the road.
  2. Arthur would be right. Bought some stuff of ebay which has been okay but more that's been total shite.
  3. What's Gammon TV? Never knew there was a channel just for me?
  4. Today I got a replacement phone and then spent 2 hours trying to get everything across from my old phone. Ended up losing a week's worth of communications and most of my WhatsApp. Recovered about half of that. These things never seem to go as smoothly as advertised! On a plus note arranged with son in law to collect bike on Wednesday. Probable means vile weather coming my way.
  5. This working days isn't so bad then?
  6. Tell her to get off the roof and for goodness sake hurry up and get ready.
  7. Good afternoon from Glasgow Airport where I'm waiting for a plane home. Yesterday was not a good day but today's not bad.
  8. Double banked in Finnart. Just tomorrow to get through and then free to have a beer or three. Tomorrow we've got the 4 top brass coming down so maybe fun.
  9. Like the side panniers but can't say I'm a fan of top boxes generally but I don't ride 2 up.
  10. Troyes at least the old part isn't bad, nor is Rheims for that matter. Epernay is a bit meh but I've eaten well there.
  11. Well I'm looking forward to my first pint of heavy on Thursday night.
  12. Good morning, just passing Malin Head and enjoying the last quiet morning on board before the shit hits the fan starting at 0300 tomorrow. All part of the fun.
  13. Last weekend was shite. Major system failure on auxiliary plant. Followed by software glitch on Internet which didn't get resolved until midday today. Still next weekend should be better as I'm due home on 10th if all goes well.
  14. For road riding I just don't see the point of a peak. Excessive turbulence and the glare issue for me is met by a drop down sun visor. But each to his own and if you buy one so be it.
  15. Tomorrow we do part 1 of pre-arrival tests. Monday is part 2. Time to work for my living; sigh.
  16. Grip puppies aren't exactly expensive and I'm trying to avoid buying from any Chinese source.
  17. Can't say I'm a fan of this particular Friday!
  18. Back in the early 80's the NZ navy still had a rum issue. We were berthed in Invercargill behind a small corvette and the dockers didn't work weekends. Spent the Saturday carousing with the Kiwis on their naval issue rum - good stuff. Spent Sunday carousing in a Maori pub where we were locked in. Bit of a lost weekend really.
  19. My ducati has been running on E10 since new in 2018 and has done over 30k miles. Tank is absolutely fine.
  20. Paying the price for being a smug bast*rd. The evil weather gods listened when I said how nice it was off Florida a few weeks ago. We now have Severe Gale force 9, seas to match and snow ffs! Our speed is shite too. Life's a purple bitch.
  21. I really like rum, still do and probably always will but it has given me some of the worst hangovers ever. But then getting absolutely hammered tends to do that. Haven't done it for a while either. Maybe I'm finally growing up?
  22. My current gear is Halvarssons laminate which uses their own membrane. IMO and this is based on my personal experience of goretex in various products in biking, marine wear and outdoors gear generally I find it stays waterproof for longer which is why I'll be replacing my Halvarssons stuff with something else; probably Rukka or maybe Klim or Staedler. Yes it's expensive but for now I can afford it. I like stuff to last years, these brands do.
  23. No. That's not my thing.
  24. Don't mind eating the occasional rabbit myself.
  25. Stroud Brewery does it for me with an occasional venture into Uley Ales.
