  1. Looking for a bit of advice Specially aimed to those whom have a trailer. What is the width of the trailers? I know the legal max width is 1m but I think this is just too big. Taking some precise measurements I realise that the roof box is exactly 1m wide on its widest section. So the wheels will definitely would have to go inside. But this means that the trailer would be quite wide. Going back to the traditional build of a trailer, wheels outside, I would have to cut around 40 cm (400mm) to bring it under the max size (96cm). Now, this for me would look better and not like an old mobile with the wheel concealed in the bodywork, would be easier to repair a puncture if necessary. If I'm to cut the box, which won't be too hard, better cut it to a decent size and go for what is a better setting. Thoughts? Thank you in advance
  2. My bathroom scale is a freakin' liar...
  3. The downside of Aluminium frame is that isn't as strong as steel and being lighter means that will need to be loaded or will start jumping if is empty. I'm not sure aluminium will stand the vibrations and impacts as well as steel. Then price factor, alum is around 30% more expensive than steel. also, there are more standard sizes in steel than alum. Adding to this, I have welding equipment for steel but not for alum. But your suggestion is appreciated. I’m sure you could design a light strong frame with steel. Indeed, I don't expect the entire trailer to be anything over 30 to 45kg

  5. Great link One thing I've learned when I got my license was to look to the side of an hazard. Like when you see a pothole, if you look at it you can be sure you will hit it. On the other hand, if you look to the side of it you can be sure that you will miss it. The damn front wheel will always go where your eyes are looking at
  6. Don't you mean not overloaded? Maybe I can get a cheap scale to make sure is always under 150kg. Most European countries refer to the law of the origin country for mc towing. The frame will be steel yes, and there are quite a few companies that sell all the accessories for the trailer. so I should be easier. Now I have the box I can start designing the frame to fit.
  7. I hope there will be info outside facecrap.
  8. I've done this, works quite well. Just make sure they're not ribbed for her pleasure - messes up the display. And dry ones. you don't want it to be slippery
  9. The intention is to do full camping gear yes. But when not camping I'm sure the mrs will find plenty to fill it up Maybe even make one of those pull up tents with aluminium frame.
  10. I was thinking elastic bands and a freezer bag, our idea of cheap seem to differ lol. Use the same technology as some reporters used a few years ago in the Amazon. Put it inside a condom
  11. As I said on another thread, I got this roof box courtesy of a gentleman from Auchterader Roof box Roof box The idea is to fix it to a frame and make a trailer for my touring trips. Although a one wheeler would be a great option I decided to Go for the 2 wheels and have a more stable setting. The box is 137 cm X 95 cm which is just under the legal 1m width. To go around this, I'll be crating 2 wheel arch inside the box next to the wall, this will be done in glass fibre and resin. The cover is quite wobbly so I'm considering reinforcement with red carbon fibre and epoxy resin, 3 resin coats on top for glossy finish. Like this ill be red as the bike Red carbon fibre I'm not too worried about the base, it will be fixed to the steel frame so it will be strengthen with it and isn't as wobbly. Also considering to create a wall to be fixed between the cover and the base to increase capacity.
  12. What I don't like about these is that if you leave the bike for a few hours the braking system is under pressure for a log period.
  13. You only need to MOT them to make sure they are safe to ride, you won't need insurance and tax as long you don't ride them
  14. I have a nitendo wiiU will throw all the accessories with it
  15. No at the moment . Are you not officially advertising it? I'me very tempted. Would be a great add-on to my ST1300 and ideal for shorter trips like bike day friday
  16. Yesterday got a free roof box, so will be starting design for new trailer finish mounting fairings on bike little repairs while fitting, wee things like replace dodgy electrical contacts with new plugs. Start cutting wooden steps for stairs. Make a BBQ Have plenty beer and red wine
  17. When I went to this museum I got into the concorde, I don't think I would like to fly in it. so little space. Compared to a 777 or a 380 is a flying cupboard https://www.nms.ac.uk/explore-our-collections/stories/science-and-technology/concorde/
  18. If I understand it is very different from Wenkel. Regarding IP. By posting it you have lost the opportunity to register the IP according to international IP rules... Technicality, as combustion engines will be illegal in a few years, it's a copyright of what you could have had. Unless you can burn hydrogen or other green fuel

  20. First one important question. You have already registered the IP? Second, it should depend on proximity between flame and fuel, if heat transfer is strong enough it should inflame but this would mean that the separating material is hot enough to transmit the heat. The image is showing a thin material so I would guess it will heat up, the next question is, will the material resist such fast heat exchange? Anyhow, I think it's a neat idea if it works.
  21. At 250 miles I start looking for a petrol station.
