  1. In the case of my Wife she went to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual
  2. I was told by my driving instructor that they no longer could say "go straight at the roundabout" after a very unfortunate incident
  3. Cheers for that @Throttled
  4. I'm off to Scotland in two weeks. Really better of calmed down by then!
  5. @billy sugger I must admit I did do before after spending a lot of time driving my Wife's car which had automatic headlights. Mine does not. Driving home when an oncoming car started flashing at me. I automatically looked at my speed and was on the lookout for a speed trap Was a few minutes down the road before it clicked as to why he was doing it
  6. Worst environment I worked in was at a jewellers. I loved working there for the first few years. I went from being a Christmas temp to the deputy manager with an opportunity to run my own store which regrettably didn't happen. The issues began when we were pushed into using high pressure sales tactics. It just isn't me and wasn't what our customers wanted. Case in point was when our area manager came in and "persuaded" a regular customer to buy a £300 necklace. He was very braggadocios about the sale but we never saw that lady again. Before that she would come in every 2 or 3 weeks and buy something smaller, around £30 to £40 usually. She had been scared off coming again. The worst was when they introduced accidental damage insurance policies. Each staff member had to sell a minimum of 5 per day "For just £4.99 you can insure this £10 pair of earrings for 1 year against accidental damage" I saw the writing on the wall when I got a phonecall from head office asking how the day had gone. "Not bad at all, we just sold a £2000 diamond ring and it's not even lunch time!" The response was " did you sell the cover on that and how many policies have you done so far?"
  7. I once said if I was a driving instructor (no chance would I want that job!!) I would make sure my students had to drive around the local schools during drop off/pick up time. They would certainly learn about erratic drivers, watching for hazards, clutch control in slow moving traffic, emergency braking........... My rant is road based. Pedestrians who never bother looking before crossing a road. It's almost routine at this point for me when I'm approaching a junction or side road I want to turn into and I see a person walking on the path. "are you going to look?, are you? of course not" beeeeeeeeppppppp!!!!!
  8. My wife gets mad at me when i'm a passenger as she only indicates when she feels its necessary. I reach over and operate the lever for her
  9. Hi and welcome to the forum
  10. Someone just shared this to me. Apparently there is a man on horseback trolling people who are queuing up at a petrol station
  11. is it in the ignition?!!
  12. The garage I used to work at always kept 500 litres or so as spare for staff and emergency services. I think that was more to do with the manager of the site rather than a company rule though.
  13. Ebay would probably be your best bet. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=suzuki+dr+125+sm+ignition+barrel&_sacat=0
  14. @KiwiBob that is a good point.
  15. My Wife headed out last night at approx 10pm to look for fuel. The four nearest stations were all shut (usually 24hr) but she got lucky at the 5th one though they only had super unleaded left!!
  16. It will be that. Trying to avoid going through his insurance so the premiums don't rise. They wouldn't be allowed to operate without insurance
  17. @Spongefinger I literally check the insurance cost first on bikes/cars before I get attached to the idea of having it and finding out it's treble my current one!!
  18. They will have insurance to cover those sorts of things. You will certainly not be the first one to damage one of their bikes!!
  19. It's the A1 test which you can do on your 125cc. That will let you carry pillions, ride on motorways and remover your L plates
  20. A full test needs to be on a larger bike. I believe the minimum now is 395cc though I might be corrected on that
  21. Yes you can but will be limited to automatics only and wont be allowed to ride a geared bike. Bit like what happens with a car test
  22. Traffic backed up, Queues and out of service pumps abound in West Yorkshire at the moment I'm currently isolating so hopefully will be back to normal by time I can go out again. My car is about as frugal as you can get (Toyota Aygo 1.0 litre) and has a full tank plus I've a full Jerry can in garage for lawnmower so I should be ok for a long while anyway. If it comes to it I suppose i'll just have to walk the 1 mile commute I have to work
  23. £800 sounds steep! A 3 to 5 day das is around £480 in West Yorkshire. Training, lessons on how to pass the test, use of bike schools motorbike and insurance etc.
