    Welcome ZX7R

    Welcome to the forum
  2. My Wife's Dad was like that. He would spend a massive amount of time prepping the walls before decorating, I'm talking days! Going over any little dent or hole with filler and sanding it down smooth. Funny thing is he never did the actual wallpapering, he'd leave all that to his Wife
  3. My Neighbour was in her 90's and had to be put into a care home earlier this year as she began to need 24hr care. I helped her out a few times over the 5 years we've been here, tripped fuses, boiler lost pressure etc. One evening I was cleaning the kitchen when I looked out of the window and saw her making her way very slowly down my drive using her walking frame. I went out to see what was wrong and saw smoke billowing out of her doorway. She said she'd had an accident making some soup I ran inside and saw a saucepan on the hob smoking away. Turned out she'd set it going and had fallen asleep in the living room. Must of been burning for sometime as there was nothing left inside the pan except for a blackened mess. She was so embarrassed about what had happened, I was just grateful she had woken up in time to get out and get help
  4. Neil Peart has wrote a few which are very good. His first one (Ghost Rider) is a difficult read as its the story of dealing with the death of his Wife & Daughter in the same year. Certainly worth a go

    Welcome stedebs

Welcome back!! I don't remember you!!!
  6. We've got a Google home hub (Bit like an Amazon Alexa with a screen) As all our photos are stored on Google Photos we have set the hubs screensaver to show a random photo every couple of minutes. Its actually quite clever at how it does it, For example showing photos taken on this day 5 or 10 years ago.
  7. Got Canada rebooked for May but I think we all know how that will go!! I think I need to focus on getting my (our! just in case she reads this ) house the way we want as well. Have done quite a lot in the 5 years we've had it but at the same time I think "We've had it 5 years, why haven't I put flooring in the loft yet?" or something similar
  8. Bit like MK2 Meganes. Remove front wheel to change headlight bulb
  9. I'd lean towards letting them come to their own conclusions.
  10. @paulc I've moved your post here so you can nominate yourself as a nob of the day!! Hope there was no damage except to your pride!!
  11. Not sure what you lot have been up to but I've had an incredibly boring year! 3 cancelled holidays, including one to see my brother in Canada who I last saw in 2015. I think the only interesting things were building a shed and getting the nod to be a mod on here!! Bring on some excitement next year!!
  12. Not round here they aren't. Mine is staying at home till the 18th learning from home to keep the school safe!
  13. Done
  14. Especially if he's been drinking, aye @Stu?
  15. @Six30 pity you didn't get the mod gig, you seem a natural

    2021.......

I'm sure you're right!! In fact I'd bet money on practitioners of most arts giving me a headache and a few bruises I just feel like the ones where during training you are actively trying to beat your opponent have an advantage over the others. Boxing being another example.
  17. Very true. Both My Wife & I have bought cars in the past that we weren't entirely enamoured with but needed something fast as we had no other transport

    2021.......

One of the best things about Judo when it comes to having a scrap is that you are used to fighting against someone who is trying to beat you too. None of this "I will slowly bring my hand down for you to block and counter" like you see in some other Martial Arts. I did Judo when I was around 10 and still remember my first lesson which is surprising as I think I ended up with a concussion Towards the end of the session we were all told to take it in turns at trying to take one of the brown belts down who was probably very late teens or early twenties (guessing the training was more for his sake than ours!) When it came to my go (bearing in mind this was my first lesson and the only thing I'd been taught was how to fall backwards and break my fall by slapping the mat) I don't think he spent more than 2 seconds grappling before I was spinning around in the air and landed with a hard smack. It must of been bad as he got bollocked for it and I was helped up and half carried to the changing room
  19. Obviously couldn't be used indoors but thought I'd mention that I've seen on a few of Alan millyards videos that he uses a gas BBQ for heating parts up etc
  20. I have been led to believe that it's the hob rather than the actual oven that draws the most current. Of course I may be talking bollocks too but it is what I was once told
  21. Not just your post. All for this thread temporarily
  22. Making a sale can usually change their minds
