  1. I have read stories of getting older bikes through the relevant tests. Not sure how because l don't live there but l definitely saw something. So l wouldn't give up just yet. Hopefully someone will be along to point you in the right direction. Ultimately of course burning fossil fuels and polluting the air we breathe will be phased out, but not quite just yet.
  2. Welcome, not sure what to think with the bike getting nicked 3 times bit.
  3. I'm glad the tec guy said that confirms what we thought. Have a good trip.
  4. I strongly disagree with the sliding scale answers myself. I just go straight to the extremes, yes or no. Can't remember the exact scenarios but they were all equally wrong to me.
  5. Folks on the XSR site moan about Yamaha torque settings being too high. The sump bolt in particular being a 15mm drain plug doesn't need 43nm of torque, 25nm is sufficient with a new crush washer. IMO
  6. The easiest way would have been to remove the rear wheel, taking all the weight off the swingarm. Chocking the bike up from underneath the engine or holding it off the floor with straps from the seat area. I know you've done it now but in the future sort of thing. Glad you got it sorted anyway, good job!
  7. Search WK Scrambler parts, it takes you to Quadzilla where you can look up your model and find your part. https://www.quadzillaparts.co.uk/pages/wk-bikes Other bars will fit you need to make sure the sizes are the same diameter. Thickness. They may be different where they clamp to the bike and where the controls fit. Once you know that there are loads out there.
  8. Because you have the back wheel in still you have a lot of forces pushing the swingarm away from where you want it. Including the chain being tight. Get some muscle to help lift the wheel to align it all.
  9. Had that over 20 years thought about getting rid of it a few times but it's still there in the shed. Does sound good too, they are a pair of cans, 4 into 2. Had a GS1000 once but they are the only Suzukis I've had. I've had more Kawasaki's and Yamaha's than anything else.
  10. I think the Norton project is great, a total one off. What could be more interesting and challenging than that?
  11. I'm putting off starting anything garden related for as long as possible..
  12. One day I will get my old 1100 back on the road. The truth is though they are just heavy great lumps to move around in a tight space (my yard) Hence the lighter and noticeably better everything of the Yamaha.
  13. I think Milly does tons of stuff you just don't see. Plus it's a hobby to him now. Henry has all the TV connections. I think they work well together and have a laugh. Didn't they just do a 200 mph two up record? They get out and about.
  14. Yeah that's simple enough l wonder why l never thought of that. DOH.
  15. The only problem I have with fuel stabilisers is l don't know when I'm going to take the thing off the road. I ride up to the point of being too cold and the roads being salted. That varies from year to year and I seem to fuel up on the way back in after going out so it's ready to go straight out on.
  16. Swinton wanted 3 times as much for my van as Aviva. Devitt were half as much Bennett's with Ageas for the bike. It's a nightmare at the moment out there. The only thing I can suggest is keep looking you may get lucky. Other times you just have to pay up and hope things settle down for next year.
  17. Looks like the MotoGP is on ITV this weekend.
  18. Yes, as much as they can. Have a look, by using more than one app you get a better overall picture. Rain radar, shows where it has come from and where it is going.
  19. That's why I like the radar apps, you can see (roughly) what's coming your way.
  20. As above, it's Scotland so wrap up and take your best waterproofs. As well as the BBC who use Meteo there is the good old Met Office also Accuweather. They are all much the same. I like to use the live radar apps like MyRadar and Weather24 there are loads out there. With the live radar apps you can get an idea of where and when it's blowing in from. Gives you a chance of picking out a weather window for getting out and about. Good luck, enjoy!
  21. Hi, yeah I can see you are brand loyal Bob, good for you. They are not for everyone though and I stand by everything I said.
  22. I thought they looked pretty good too. Better than the Diversion they turned into. Just had a look, not many about now, looks like they only made them for a couple of years before the 600 came along. You'll be lucky to find a good one now l bet.
