  1. I've fitted a tracker but really just for the fun of it. If it gets nicked, I don't want it back. But I don't leave it anywhere to get nicked and I'm always careful about people following me home and I never keep my garage door open for people to know it's there. The tracker i have will send me text messages. Only cost a few quid and has a cheap giffgaff sim card.
  2. Whatever.. normally when people spout a load of contradictory nonsense then demand evidence to prove them wrong it's because they don't believe what others are saying...
  3. Your original post clearly demonstrated zero understanding of electronics when you suggested because nothing was plugged in it should draw zero current.. But then you went on to spout crap about dripping taps and trying to use scientific phrases like conservation of energy... Just admit you were wrong and don't actually have a scooby doo rather than belittling other people and trying to argue your way out....
  4. Exactly. Using the water analogy, the valve is analogous to a switch. But the usb charger has no switch, so the valve never gets closed so it's constantly taking 12mm water down to 5mm water regardless of anyone drinking it! That's about as far as the water analogy goes as it doesn't account for heating in the wire and circuits, magnetism etc. Unless the usb charger is able to go "open circuit" as a relay switch is able to, there will always be a current flow which will result in power loss.
  5. in a usb socket there is circuitry to convert 12v down to 5v. In the cheap Chinese ones there is no circuitry to detect if a devices is plugged in to charge, so the converter is always working converting 12v down to 5v. That process takes power. Current is drawn, a small amount of heat is produced and the battery drains at a very slow rate. It's like leaving your TV on standby. Even though there's no picture and nobody watching it, the TV is still doing work and therefore drawing current.
  6. Only need brake lights if you have other lights .. http://www.motuk.com/bike/1-3.asp#Menu_Top
  7. Keep all the lights and pass your test and get a new bike. Learner rider with no experience on the road with no lights and no indicators to practice using isn't going to put you in a good position to pass your test
  8. Buy a really switch and wire it up so that usb is only powered up when the bike is switched on. Easy enough to do and ensures zero current draw whilst the bike is not running. https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=62983
  9. You really think a cheap Chinese usb cable has the additional circuitry to only start drawing current when a device is connected??
  10. They think they can stop better without it, but I would bet alot of money that they actually can't. And the ones who say they can probably have never even ridden a bike with ABS, certainly not modern sportsbike ABS.
  11. It will draw a small current even with nothing plugged in as it will still be working to convert 12v to 5v. If you left it long enough it would flatten your battery.
  12. Or enjoying the vibrations too much to care?
  13. Heated grips are great! Once you try them, you won't go back.. heated grips with thinner gloves is much nicer than no heated grips with huge thick thermal gloves.
  14. Have you tried "Shpock" I've sold a few things on there and it's worked well. Seems to be an increasing amount of biking stuff on there too.
  15. Instructors on a power trip. They enjoy watching the woman's dreams shattered when they fail and then really enjoy watching them jump for joy when they pass
  16. Nice bike - a man with very good taste. Looks great in white. They can't steal it if you're riding it, so just don't stop riding it!
  17. So you have an older guy bossing you about telling you bikes and uni are a waste of time... Ditch him now!! He is poisoning your brain.. Hope you're not living with him and trapped...

    Catching fire

Flames from my exhaust cost me a fortune!! Be greatful you got them for free..
  19. Took my bike for MOT at the weekend.. alarm kept arming itself every 30 seconds and annoyed the hell out of the guy doing the test! Serves him right for not just signing it off as a pass
  20. I hung my GSXR from the ceiling of the garage whilst I changed my forks.
  21. Yeah, do it the proper way.. I heard of one guy who bought his wife out if the family home and thought that was the end of it. A year later she took him to court and won half the value of everything he owned... He had to sell the house to cover the debt... So she got a cash payment for half the house then a year later she won half his assets which includes the half the house he'd bought off her already!!
  22. Don't stress, most people don't even use the rear brake..
  23. Post him a link to this thread. That's the big test... Oh and tell the weightlifting instructor that your BF says he's talking sh1t and doesnt know what hes talking about.. I can imagine the weightlifting instructor won't take too kindly to being criticized In all seriousness, next time he makes controlling comments just say to him "stop trying to control me". After saying it a few times he will either take the hint, or get worse... Then you'll know what to to.
  24. I only ever saw a couple of episodes really late at night on a crappy TV when I was too tired to keep my eyes open... It made no sense at all but was strangely compelling viewing!
  25. Different interests is one thing, but constant negative comments is emotional abuse and signs of a controlling personality. My partner hates bikes but would never comment like that..
