SometimesSansEngine Posted February 22, 2019 Author Posted February 22, 2019 As a newbie to the world of motorcycles I'm enjoying looking up each of these bikes as we go along Quote
RAYK47 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Had a Honda vision when I was 16 (1990), crashed it first day I got it and dislocated my shoulder. I guess I am cutting my teeth now on my CB125F. My MOD1 in a few weeks will be on a CB650.Embarrassingly I can't remember the car I learnt to drive in, it might have been an astra. Quote
Gin Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 It all started with field bikes for me growing up! I thought you were going to talk about being around to see the first time they strapped an engine to a pedal bike! For me it was a trusty CBR125, which out of all the bikes I've owned, she's the one I regret selling the most. Still check the numberplate on the .gov website to see if she's still running! Car was an old shaped Micra which I really hated at first but grew to absolutely adore. Stayed pretty true with nissans since! (Micra, Note, New shape Micra and then X-Trail ). Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 For me it was a Honda Cub which got nicked and was replaced with a CG125. I think the Cub was actually faster.I learnt to drive in a MK2 Escort. Quote
Fripnchips Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Did my CBT on a Honda CB125, Then moved on to the Suzuki SV650 for my DAS. I have now got a Honda CMX500 Rebel as my first bike Quote
ADIO600 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Does old gits opinion count. We didn't have any of the cbt A2 licence thingy Bobby. Ride your own bike up to 250cc , examiner hid in a couple of doorways, job done. Ride owt ya like. Quote
Moonraker Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 6 months on 125 after my CBT, then 6 months on Suzuki GN250 and then I learned a lot on my next bike... a Triumph Sprint!! Loved that bike! Quote

(Then I bought a 350 VPVS...)Car wise, it was a driving school Micra followed by my Dad's FSO Polonez.Nowt but the best for me! Quote
Piggy Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Do you remember those sidewinder thingies that allowed you to ride a 250 with L plates? Quote
ADIO600 Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Too right I do, it enabled you to ride any cc without passing your test. My God how it's changed. Quote
Bianco2564 Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 After a couple of Honda SS50s I had a Suzuki GT250 (95mph when 17 years old and on L plates )Passed my test and bought a GT380 just before my 18th birthday.First car was a 1966 Mk1 Cortina. Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted February 25, 2019 Author Posted February 25, 2019 AGATT 1991 style Ah that's great, first pic of someone sat on what they cut their teeth on Quote
Ross Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Took my mod 1 and mod 2 on my Honda XR125L... FANTASTIC LITTLE BIKE!! failed on speed when you had to stop your front wheel in the box. Had two attempts and was too slow by like 2km each time! Then my bike got reversed into by a taxi driver and taken off by the insurence company so done my re yest on a yammy ybr125 and passed! Then went back to my little Honda XR125 for a year Quote
Tango Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 A Raleigh Runabout....15 years old....did a few laps of one of my mate's garden and I was hooked.....got my own for £20 on my 16th birthday and I was king of the road!..... Quote

They guy who sold me the bike in the 1st place who done his nut when I told him im Swapped for the 250 . Quote
The Hitcher Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 CR 125 was the first bike I rode , CBT was on a 50cc twist and go, I honestly can’t remember what now, first bike was an Aprilia RS125, did my test on a Honda CB500, first big bike was a Honda RVF400. Quote

Tiggie Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 I then rode around and practised on my Honda CBR 135 You wouldn't be allowed to ride something that powerful on a cbt! Quote
elizabethf Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Lol oops, fat fingers! 125 that SHOULD say! Quote
Smithers Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 My first ride on a motorised machine was an old Lambretta scooter. I was around 11 years old and just about able to put one foot down to steady the bike. The thrill of using the throttle and moving gears was a real buzz at the time. That episode planted the bug for motorcycles and has never left me. Quote
