Thanks, my day to day will luckily not change too much for now as I'd been filling a lot of the roles duties for several months.

The main change is I will be shifting away from design work, and getting more into the pure engineering side of things. And also setting the strategy we follow in going for projects. It's been really eye opening to see on some jobs we've gone in with our eyes effectively closed, bidding on stuff with no way to know whether the solution that has been priced can even be connected to the grid.

And I've already developed a strategy that will set us apart from our competitors. Can't publicly share details but they all make a common mistake in how they size systems, especially solar. And it has an easy fix that would let us go back to a client with a more realistic set of options. With a little technical presentation, I think I can undermine our competitors by showing their "better" system is likely a promise they have no realistic way of delivering.

Oh well done. Light em up as it were.

Still kicking... and cooking. Bit warm here today and I'm off in a couple of hours to the Big Smoke where it'll be hotter still.

Taking shape nicely that. I hope what ever you are putting it into is as square as that.

I've made it to fit the rear of our Elgrand, one of the reasons for making it was to make as much use of the available space, I've allowed 1mm either side to the plastic  trim at floor level 🤔, that and to buy a generic one was going to be almost a grand without the fridge, usually also no room for a battery  you get pretty much no storage room other than the fridge, still have to supply your own battery and the fridge usually sticks out the front as they are deeper than most people want the unit to be.

Compressor is remote from the fridge and lives in the left bottom with water, waste, battery which I can't bring myself to order cause it's going to make me cry 😂

Above that, storage and a draw and above fridge very big cupboard, 12v in or out on side and a double usb outlet.

That's pretty tight tolerances I hope it fits ok.

The motorhomefun site always has plenty to say on the price of batteries and which is best.

We just chuck it all in and go EHU when we get there!

Yup I'm my own worst enemy 😂 most of my issues have arisen from being too picky, I had to buy a digital caliper/depth gauge cause my eyes aren't upto it, Idea was to see how feasible making custom lightweight stuff would be, this one will go up for sale but I think it's going to prove too expensive, I plan on making a smaller more generic one and see how that works out.

Had a problem with the gas cooker so I consulted resident expert & super hero @Bender and with his advice  it’s all fixed & working fine.

Gas engineer turned up today fixed & tested it also tested for leaks at the gas meter - cost £95 just for fitting - but I’m ok with that as it gives peace of mind & apparently fitting the thermostat sensor was a complete b*strd involving taking most of the oven lining apart.

I’d contacted quite a few before, one said no one fixes gas cookers any more, 3 wouldn’t commit unless they did diagnostics ( despite it being absolutely bloody obvious ) 2 others said it would be 2 weeks before they could fit it in.

Even the one who saved us said it could be upto 10 to 15 days to get the part - I ordered next day delivery for £75, he did give dire warnings about the cost if he turned up and it was the wrong part, happily I’d got it right!

Only down side was that I had already partially disassembled it to diagnose the problem, unfortunately between us we couldn’t get the lid to stay up, so I let him off and set about sorting it myself - ffs what a faff eventually I was able to work out which hinge  spring went which side & managed to pre-load them so it all worked smoothly.

Also it is now absolutely immaculate due to Mrs  Mickly being mortified at the thought of some one having to work in a greasy cooker.

 😁

@Micklyglad your sorted, I usually snip the thermostat bellows feed off the old one at the stat and  tape the new one onto it and pull it through, did I not mention that bit oops, doesn't always work but mostly does and when it does it saves shed load if time.

That price ain't too bad, the no one wanting to do it is the problem these days, most engineers and I use that term very loosely only want to replace things, I have no issues trying to repair things, folk have to be made aware that sometimes things just don't want to come apart.
