Idiot dog woke me at 3. Then I had a coughing fit, so I’m lying here wondering when to get up and have a coffee and call the day to order.

 

05:20? What the hell kind of time is that? No sane person would be awake at this time of day. In fact, I doubt this even exists. It’s just some kind of made up time to pack out the night until real time recommences at 10am.

I am drafting the Parish Neighbourhood Plan which is a 4-year plan (extendable to 16 years) which, as well as giving a 'picture' of the village from early history to the present day, also details how we wish to progress going forwards. ie. Social development, industrial development, type and location of housing, Infrastructure, amenities, land management, etc.

We had thought (naively) that as the village is bounded by flood plain, river and major arterial roads, we would not have any of the 'call for sites' responses carried forwards however, there are 18 proposed development sites identified, 17 of which have been agreed to stage 2, the 'craziest' is a 'Park & Ride' 9for Huntingdon), located in the river floodplain (this whole area floods at least twice every year and is essential in preventing major flooding in the surrounding area).

Our plan is to ensure that all concerns are listed regarding future development as well as identifying areas of possible additional housing sites without affecting the flood plane or social amenities (ie. not simply 'NIMBY').

This is a mammoth task and will take some considerable time to complete - The government deadline is the 26th of this month!

If it's any consolation I was up and doing at 0500 this morning and have an all night session to look forward to tonight as we go up to Antwerp.

Luckily not my money, but the fall out of crap was enormous, not just card, lots of plastic in amongst it, whole lot should be banned, I think next year we moving up to mortar fireworks, its hard to get them though when your not a proper display company

Is DIY an option?

Feck health and safety I think it would be great fun and take us all back to those glorious days of criminal irresponsibility we call our childhood.

Maybe even a TMBF competition ?

It's safe to say we wouldn't pass a health and safety inspection as it is, I mean we've never injured a member of the public but it's a miracle we've escaped anything major.

 

Worst last night was 2 large double shot rockets that forgot to do the bit where they fly and instead just exploded in the launch tubes, I was pretty close to those and the blast radius on the deck is probably 150ft

This year I bought quiet fireworks as our granddaughters were with us. One has just turned 2, the other is 3. Plus we have farms all around us with livestock. 

 

I thought I would be disappointed but they turned out to be quite decent. I didn't spend quite as much as @Bender though. 

 

I cooked too many marshmallows on the fire and am now regretting it.

I haven't done the fireworks thing for ages! I do quite like them! Some of the things we squaddies used to do from flat balconies would have today's H and S in a coma!

We have 37 horses and a dog that don't like fireworks, our neighbours are quite understanding. 

But even half a mile away they're still causing us a problem.
