Spongefinger Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) Saw this interesting video about the legality of riding without CBT due to not being able to renew. Interestingly enough in some of the comments it send some insurance companies are saying you would still be covered if CBT expires ? Edited January 30, 2021 by Spongefinger Update Quote
dynax Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 That's because the CBT has no bearing on your insurance. 1 Quote
Bender Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Carol Nash are aware of it https://www.carolenash.com/news/bike-news/detail/urgent-changes-to-cbt-rules-needed-to-keep-key-workers-on-the-road Quote

Bender Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Upto £1000 fine and 6 penalty points for not having a valid cbt at which point it will most certainly affect insurance for a good few years 1 Quote

Yes it is but that has nothing to do with insurance, and at the very least you are covered by third party regardless of the circumstances. 1 Quote
Bender Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Bennetts are going to continue to insure those riding who's cbt has expired during lockdown. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/news/2021/february/government-refuses-cbt-extension-during-lockdown Quote
Fish Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 The might continue to insure, but if they get caught they'll happily put the price up for the 6 points the rider will receive. Fish Quote
Keeper96 Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Read the full article and it says they’ll continue to cover the bikes against theft and accidental damage, so basically whilst it’s parked up once yiu can’t ride anymore e Quote
Liveware Problem Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motorcyclenews.com/amp/news/covid-19-coronavirus-cbt-driving-test/ Seems a barmy decision, if there's any activity that could be carried out safely right now wouldn't it be CBTs? Naturally socially-distanced, everyone wearing full face helmets etc. So if you rely on a 125 for commuting, or your actual job - like food delivery workers - you're screwed! Quote

dynax Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Have you noticed that it is the Scottish MP's that are in support of this. Says a lot about our own MP's don't you think. https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/58075 1 Quote
Guest Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Really glad this EDM has been tabled, and if it's down to BMF and MAG pressure, thanks to them too! In my view it's blatantly discriminatory, especially when the Gov't are extending driving licenses. Quote
