Or the title could be Croatia here I come :thumb:

The plan is.

Leaving home on the 24th Sep to Hull. Get the ferry to Rotterdam and ride down followed very close by my trailer :)

Spend 9 days based on a camping site by the sea and exploring the countryside for a few days.

Places like the Luna national park and other natural wonders.

Plenty of food and sun while all kids are already in school so I expect a quiet kids free site ;)

I'll be back on the 9th (arriving home)

I'll try to annoy you guys if I have the time and patience to post some countryside porn :thumb:

Planning for a calm ride down south.

Ship sails around 8.30pm with boarding from 7.

Leaving home before lunch, so plenty of time in between :thumb:

Well...

Glad I have check.

And as a warning to other fellow riders, STAY AWAY from OneCall.

They are a bunch of phoking crooks lying B@stards.

The EU cover I thought I had after all I don't.

The guy on the phone assured me that it was the default cover and I found out the default is a pile of poo 🤬

As result an extra £230 for proper breakdown cover for both bikes. As personal policy.

On the bright side I've just boked the ferry to and from Hull

camping site is oliviagreencamping.com just on the Med sea.

NHS card in order,

Sainsbury's money card ready to be loaded with €'s

One of the must go places will be the

http://nationalpark-una.ba/en/

Apparently a gem in the country and the roads around look proper bike roads.

Other places to visit but I haven't got info on them.

Lucky with your NHS card. Mine arrived on Saturday despite being ordered three weeks ago. Needless to say I'm in Europe but my card isn't. Pooh.

Could you get a copy scanned and emailed to you, if that would cover you?

I just booked up with a company called QDOS Breakdown for £31.55 hopefully they come good if needed. If my bike was a bit older I bet the policy would of been a lot more.

Unfortunately QDOS doesn't do EU cover or older bikes.

I don't know, it might do but it's academic now as I'm back home but it will be handy next time!

  • 3 weeks later...

Wee update,

EHIC card arrived a few days ago.

Yesterday got my new ID card (Yes we have those back home)

Passport dealt with and will arrive probably by Monday the latest according to Consulate staff.

I'm now practicing my art of procrastination in making the list of stuff I will need to take... 🙄

Swimming shorts and beach towel are in the pile already together with shorts to roam around the camping site.

Weather forecast is showing a "mild" temperature 20 - 25c with few clouds and light breeze throughout the 2 weeks 🥳

In the UK side, no surprises there, strong chance of rain all the way down to Hull.

Finally have my new passport.

Took them a whole week to send it. 🤔

Just need to wait for the Euro to come back up, should have bough some when it was at €1.18. And some croatian Kuna.

Next, service the Pan, checks on the trailer to make sure everything is working.

Fit the new side mirror (don't ask...).

Ended procrastination on the luggage list so next will start filling the bags.

The last year of the Kuna before they change to Euro in January. Hope you have a great trip

Both me and the wife each have a Monzo and Starling debit cards. They are accepted anywhere that the Mastercard symbol is displayed. the main advantage we've found is that you get the exchange rate at time of purchase plus you can use them to withdraw cash from ATM's again with the exchange rate as at time of withdrawl. along with no rip-off fees we've found that they cover all bases while we've been riding round/through Italy and France, along with here in Tunisia.

The advantage of having a card each means we can keep track off spending regardless of card used via the app for each card.

So yesterday I was going to Kerrimuir where there is a biker hub at a take-away, Viv's kitchen (will add it to the places to visit if not there)

Was meeting another rider at the nearby Sainsbury petrol station.

For some reason during the 5 miles trip from home the rear tyre felt "weird" near the station felt like I had a puncture but the TMPS was showing 38psi, a tad low but after a while the pressure builds up to the normal 42.

Stopped at the fuel station filled up and when returning from paying I found a oil puddle under the bike 😰

Had to return home and cage all the way up. This was a BACA event and I had committed to it already.

when I got back home I started the investigation.

Fortunately, although not what you want to find a few days before going touring, the fault is easily repaired.

A new K&N filter to replace this one.

image.thumb.jpeg.31e8135cb616dbb31fd711fe91b3799b.jpeg

The filter isn't that old, maybe 5,000 miles. However, lots of ridding on the wet and I mean proper UK wet.

Hiflo are good filters but not long lasting as casing is very thin.

As result 3 holes pouring the oil out.

Today will need to jetwash the entire rear of the bike and the rear tyre.

New filter due in Wed from Opie oils, sadly sportsbikeshop can't deliver before Thu and knowing how couriers work in the area I would be sitting waiting for the filter until the last minute.

Wee update.

Problem solved.

As pan B I have just bough a Honda oil filter (only available near me) So if courier doesn't deliver K&N on time I have a backup plan. :thumb:
