rennie Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 My new(er) car doesn't have a cd player (normal nowadays I know) I've got google maps running on the touch screen via android auto, I've got DAB radio, I can plug a memory stick in and play music through that but I'd have to unplug my phone. My phone is a low-end Samsung galaxy A20E, it has no music on it or a place to put it that I can see, what's the best/cheapest (preferably free) way to get music onto my phone so I can play it through the Android Auto? S-Westerly Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I use Spotify but any of the music streaming services will do. I use the paying version but they all have free versions. My wife reckons BBC Sounds is good for what she listens to and she uses the free version. 1 Quote
manxie49 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) I use Spotify which is great, it also links in nicely through my helmet intercom. There is a free version that you can download, however, you'll only be able to listen to and play your saved music, I have it on my desktop as well and sync it with my phone. There's also monthly subscription plans which I think costs around a tenner. The app is pretty intuitive, and easy to use. Edited October 9, 2022 by manxie49 1 Quote
rennie Posted October 9, 2022 Author Posted October 9, 2022 I'll have a look at spotify, I'm not sure I play enough music in the car to justify a subscription. Cheers! Quote
rennie Posted October 9, 2022 Author Posted October 9, 2022 I've downloaded the free version of spotify for now I'll see how I get on with that and maybe upgrade later Quote
Bender Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Your phone us more than capable of playing music, there will be a folder for user files, be amazed if Samsung sync app does not put them in right place for you. 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I use the subscription version purely because I can then play saved tracks when I'm not connected to Internet or a network like when I'm away. 1 Quote
onesea Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 My daughter taught me about Spotify. Useful if you have an individual account but have multiple people in family. 1) you can have it on multiple devices (I am up to 8 at the moment), 2) Down load music on to device, 3) Either turn data of or put Spotify in offline mode, You can have multiple devices playing music at the same time. My misses and I have done this so if we both use at same time one goes offline and listens to saved playlists. Cheap skates I know but works for us. 1 Quote
Stu Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Maybe have a look at amazon prime you get a lot more than just music with it and it may well do what you need too 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Yeah but you get pestered by amazon all the bloody time. Why I no longer have it. Quote

Plus anything you really want to listen to on Amazon Prime won't be included in the monthly fee, you have to pay extra for Amazon Unlimited. Another reason I ditched Amazon. 2 Quote
Harris Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Id advise using deezer rather than spotify. After using both it's clear that spotify doesnt have as good a sound quality or volume as Deezer does. I find deezer easier to use too. 1 Quote
Bender Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 I just like having several hundred mp3's on the phone on shuffle. 1 Quote
