RideWithStyles Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Fork oil change, bit rushed with a bit of guesstimate but miles better than the Hagon setup suggested, for me happier riding now . 2 Quote

Bought it fresh in September 2023, couldn't ride it till October due to Storm Babet (I think it was...) but put 1900 miles on it since. Does everything I ask of it, although due to 10.6hp and me being not as slight as I used to be "drop a gear disappear" doesn't really apply so overtaking needs a lot of planning.. Other than power and lack of bungee points (I take it to work occasionally and have to bungee work fleece and some other stuff in a Matalan bag for life to back of seat). Never done it the same way twice.. Considering a top box but hoping to do DAS in September so why spend money when i might get a new bike with top box/luggage etc in near future? 2 Quote

Dont be down on 10hp! More than we had -125 2011 very early injection and a chunky lump more than 3/4 its weight on it with a topbox and crap in it can still bags over takes that make people double take! what you do and plan with it thats matters! 1 Quote

Should've mentioned the fuel economy... 11 litre tank.. Came with a full tank and I've only refuelled it 5 times so that's 6 full tanks it's had. Done 69 miles on last fill up (last saturday) so I'm pushing 300 miles per tank. Or thereabouts. If you want a cheap, reliable commuter.. CB125F. 'nuff said.. 1 Quote

The first bit through the Pennines to Kirkby Lonsdale and Devil's Bridge was pretty good, not too much traffic. Was going to have a brew at the Bridge but it was rammed with bikes so didn't bother stopping. Next bit- A683 - to Lancaster used to be really good. Alas no more as it is covered with average speed check cameras and most of it is 50 mph or less. Then it got worse. The M6 was awful so ended up filtering for damn near 30 miles. Followed 3 loud Harleys for a good bit of it and it was like Moses parting the Red Sea. As soon as I got south of the Mersey I headed for the A49. That was pretty good all the way down to Leominster. Although traffic was moderate there were plenty of opportunities to overtake and from Leominster it was a straight forward run to home. A bit weary but really happy with the bike. If you came that route you could have dropped in for tea and cake. 1 Quote
curlylegend Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Really nice warm sunny day so out for a short tour of southern Brittany. I'd got less than 10 km from home when I came across this... I was riding a very minor road I'd never ridden before, but I was curious. Sure enough, a few metres up the road there it was.... Just looks like a field but why would it have a windsock at the end ?... The things you come across when you travel back roads ? 3 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Nothing exciting, just an evening bimble round the parish as rain is forecast for tomorrow... and for the rest of my life. (probably) anyone would think I lived in Glasgow!! anyway called in at an Aldi and thought the bike looked sparkly in the artificial light. and so snap. 5 Quote
Simon Davey Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 I did nothing except call the workshop, and it's still not coming home just yet 2 Quote

I have my moments of temptation, but to be honest - I just don't want anymore debt. its paid for now and trading it in for something else would very likely mean another loan and I can't be bothered with it. Rather than spend on that.. im looking forward to upgrading the suspension front and rear at some point. 5 Quote
bonio Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Got to pick mine up on Thursday from the dealer. Took it in as the rear shock's not behaving right. 1 Quote

S-Westerly Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Took it out for a 20 mile errand. Dug out my full winter gear and was glad I had. 10 C is not my idea of a July temperature. Where's this bloody global warming then? 3 Quote
Tinkicker Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Took VFR out for a 30 mile or so run. Happy to report she started on the button first time. Seems like getting a long screwdriver under the tank, switching the fuel off and running the carbs almost dry is the way to go if stored for a few weeks. This vid I found on the tube is pretty typical when not started for over a month in winter. Edited July 6, 2024 by Tinkicker 1 Quote

Trooper74 Posted July 15, 2024 Author Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Had a run out today, sort of local, Rotherham.. Lincoln.. Scunthorpe.. Doncaster.. Rotherham. Went via RAF Scampton, waved at those camped near the main gate waving Union flags and stopped at the camp at crash gate 6 to take a pic. Best wishes to all of them for making a stand … Crash Gate 6 Todays Route … 101 miles. Edited July 15, 2024 by Trooper74 4 Quote
S-Westerly Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Rode it from the "holiday house" in to Worcester and back as elder grandsons were climbing at Redpoint. 4 bairns plus grandma means I have to ride bike. What a shame, although it did rain. 3 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Bit of an oil leak developing on the Tiger so have dropped it round the shop to investigate. Meanwhile the XJR advert has run its course. I was sort of looking forward to putting it back on the road and enjoying its raw power again, but someone has messaged me out of the blue saying possibly interested. We'll see. 1 Quote

Simon Davey Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 A repeat from my "Pitstop" thread. She's home, not only is she home, but she's running perfectly!!! No spluttering. 4 x new idle jets, new seals and O-rings in the carb's and she'll plod along at low RPM without a cough or splutter. I'm also getting smoother gear changes, and I'm able to roll the throttle on with a smooth response, meaning roundabouts and turns no longer pose the threat of kicking the back end out when the power comes in. Seriously happy. 6 1 Quote
AstronautNinja Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Bike finally got delivered yesterday so I put my big boy pants on and started removing the exhaust. Headers went on, i then got the idea in my head that I'd put them in the wrong order, I hadn't, I was just being a idiot. Mid pipe on...... Only to realise there wasn't a chance it was going to mate up with the Akro (very much an excited overview / not reading what I was buying) In absolute protest and disgust of refitting the cat I'm awaiting the correct end can to arrive. 2 Quote
bonio Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Nice one @Simon Davey. There's nothing quite like the feeling of a bike that's been put properly to right. 1 1 Quote

Thanks mate. It now gives me ammunition to complain to the previous workshop that charged me for allegedly doing the same work. 2 Quote
