Simon Davey Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Went out for an hour this morning, needed a bit of a blast, but I also wanted to make sure I'd started to take the shine off my new front pads. They're a little dull still, but another outing should see them biting nicely. I was going to go for a longer ride, but it took me 1/2 an hour to faff about pumping up the tyres and to fit the quilted linings back in my jacket and trousers Edited September 29, 2024 by Simon Davey Quote

ColinWB Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Back to no pictures lol. I went for an early evening bimble around Inverclyde, North Ayrshire and Renfrewshire today, just to get out on the bike again. I was getting withdrawal symptoms not having been for a ride since las Friday. The last few miles were in semi-darkness, my first on a motorbike, so another new experience. This is the point where I usually have a moan at car drivers. Happy to say I have none today, everyone behaved themselves 1 Quote
Ian Frog Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Hired it ! Well yesterday to be precise! Teguise market Lanzarote this morning and 5 days if bumbling about to come. V.strom 650 seems quite nice so far I will attempt to abuse it a bit and let you know what I think during the next week. A bit hot for a crash helmet this afternoon at 32degrees but will be back out and about in the morning. Hope the weather at home is keeping you all amused . Cheers Ian 5 Quote
Simon Davey Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 @KiwiBob Has one, it easily handled everything our trip to the Eifel could throw at it. I thought it was a really nice machine. 2 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 We hired one in Cyprus earlier this year. Enjoyed it. Quote
muldoon74 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 (edited) Not today but yesterday... To: Tightened, cleaned and lubed chain.. With: Little 2 hour plusser.., first ride in 3 weeks or so. weather been utter crap. Highly therapeutic wee ride. You don't realise how much you miss it till you're back out. Even though my little 125 is brilliant, I still need more power. DAS by March. Edited October 6, 2024 by muldoon74 3 Quote

rob m Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Got up early this morning, washed and ACF 50'd the bike. It looked great, if I do say so myself. Rode it down to Billy's near Billingshurst to meet a good friend of mine for a coffee and steak baguette. That old R90/6 isn't his bike but was lovely so had to take a picture. While there, 2 guys separately came up to me and asked if I would be interested in selling my bike, they were both K13S ex-owners and regretted selling theirs. I declined but it was pleasing to hear that people still consider it an awesome bike (which it is, obviously). It absolutely chucked it down before setting off for home so the ride back was on filthy roads. So the bike needs another wash but with the ACF 50 applied it shouldn't take too long. 5 Quote
Mawsley Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Evening. At the football. Wife has accepted that this is a celebration so I can drink. We are celebrating me not sending her over a waterfall in a barrel. 5 Quote

rob m Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) I can’t seem to stay off the bike at the moment, loving it. It’s about 15c but the roads are still a bit greasy in places. Currently at Whiteways in West Sussex enjoying a latte and Halloween tart. It was so sweet my teeth have caved in. Back to work tomorrow EDIT: What started as a run out for a couple of hours ended up being a tour of East/West Sussex and Surrey. I just wanted to keep riding so that’s what I did. Stopped in Brighton for some sausage and chips. It was 17c and I was sat in a t-shirt looking out to sea. Eventually got in at 6pm. 176 miles later. Knackered. Mississippi Bullfrog Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Went with a mate to Old Stores, then on to Rhug, then back to Chester via the back roads. Set off in full sun and all day the dark clouds gathered, but made it home before the rain started. There were some lovely bikes at Old Stores. I'm more for chatting with folk than taking pictures so you'll have to take my word for it. 3 Quote
ColinWB Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 This morning I did a familiar route but in the reverse direction to my usual ride. Inverclyde to Bishopton to the St James interchange and down the A737 to Lochwinnoch. The weather forecast was for sun with some clouds, the reality was clouds with some sun. Very powerful sun streaming from between clouds straight into my eyes, which made for a very interesting new experience. Looking to either side of dead ahead gave me a much better view of the road and thankfully the sun spent most if the time behind light and heavy clouds, so the blinding effect was very short lived. The road was damp with some surface water being lifted by passing traffic, but my visor stayed clear. hopefully that was because of the effects of Nikwax Visor Proof that I've been using lately. When there was a light shower it left tiny raindrops on the visor and these moved away when I turned my head. I could easily have got fixated on watching them slide across my vision and off the visor but riding the bike has to take priority. Off the A737 and through Lochwinnoch gave me my first time riding with fallen leaves on the road, and falling leaves blowing in the wind. I was very gentle going around bends, particularly left handers. It was also the first time I noticed the Route 760 Cafe, on the A760 on the edge of Lochwinnoch. It has helmets in the window, so gives the impression bikers are very welcome. Has anyone been there? I'll have to try it out on another ride. On through Kilbirnie, enjoying the ride on quiet roads, nodding to the occasional biker going the other way. On the other side of Kilbirnie, heading towards Largs, I slowly gained on the Co-op delivery truck. It was all uphill so I decided my wee 125 didn't have the acceleration to get past it quickly, so I settled in for a 40mph ride, staying well back so I could see his mirrors, with the added bonus that I could admire the countryside without his bulk spoiling the view . He pulled into a layby a few miles later and the view improved even more . Going in this direction I was going down the Haylie Brae and taking the 180 corner as a left hander, a tighter turn than the right hander in the opposite direction, on a damp road. Slowish and steady saw me round it safely. The road through Largs up to Inverclyde was quiet, maybe too quiet, because I took my eye off the ball at Wemyss Bay when I saw a 4x4 start to crawl towards the road at the station junction, so I kept an eye on it. When I looked ahead again the car in front of me had stopped, so I had to stop rather abruptly, which I managed with a few feet to spare. Fixating again! After that wee scare it was an uneventful ride back home. 6 1 Quote

It’s my 3rd BMW K bike. For a big bike it does well on mpg, it’s reliable and has all the power anybody could need. It’s also really comfortable for a sports tourer. They have a bit of a cult following now with an active community on FB that have arranged national meets this year. There’s bikes on there that have gone past 200k miles now. Interesting fact, it has almost identical power and torque figures to the 1290 Superduke which is no mean feat as the K1300s is an inline 4 and the KTM is a v-twin. 3 Quote

JRH Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Went for a ride out with @CB999 to CTL motors Cirencester. They have a range of classic bikes and cars, but more importantly a good cafe. So bacon rolls and coffee was consumed. This was followed by coffee / tea and scones at Chipping Norton. 6 Quote
Yorky Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Bacon rolls and coffee do not belong in the same sentence !! Now, bacon rolls and a mug of hot tea 1 1 1 Quote
