The Following Morning I perform ones ablutions and then head off for the Green Welly Stop for breakfast, stopping off for a photo along Loch Lomond. When I arrived at the Green Welly I noted the cafe was closed but were serving takeaways, a bacon barm and a coffee later I hit the road again. Making my way up to Glencoe, the weather made it quite eerie. Its always worth a stop off at the commando memorial, several bikers pulled over but didn't bother to stay. On a clear day you can see Ben Nevis and see for miles however it wasn't to be today, still misty rain.

So, Last Monday I headed on up North. I packed up the pony with all the luggage, I thought I would use this trip as a tester for next year. So at 07:50 I set off for Gretna Green. 2hrs later I arrived at the toll bar cafe, only to find it was closed No point hanging around here so I set off to Arrochar, now Arrochar is just NW of Loch Lomond. I decided to avoid the Erskine bridge and head for the ferry at Gourock. I cant remember what time I arrived at Gourock, but I was just in time for a ferry. Straight on, £5 for me and £5 for the bike. The ferry is a short 20min sailing to Dunoon. From Dunoon it is a great ride into Arrochar where I was staying the night. Plenty of bikes arrived that evening. It was steak n ale pie & chips and a pint for tea (supper or Dinner for those down south) and I was ready to call it a night. The weather all day was a mixture of mist and rain.

Enjoy. I've just returned from there this evening. I'm glad I was on the bike otherwise I would probably still be on the A838

I hope its moved on a bit since those days however, my observer wanted to straighten the curve and ride straight through the bends. We parted company when I said, where the fun in that, I like to get my knee down if I can. He didn't find it funny.

Bike all loaded up for the run up to Scotland. Now I could just run with a top box and tank bag however, I have decided to pannier up. Not that there is much in them, just a pair of boots and a change of riding gear and some brew tackle

Yamaha have it sussed when it comes to great little budget bikes, which is what the XJ6 was in its day and it ticked all the boxes. Just like the little MT07 now.

Just tipped over 4K miles on the Katoom in the last 12 months.

I might have a ride over to Grassington - not been there for at least 6 years.

I have almost given up on making video's. I usually film our holidays and then troll through a weeks worth of material to then edit them down to 3 min videos .

Bike Serviced ready for the Scotland trip in September. Oil, filter & brake fluid changed. Stopped off for a brew in GS territory (Dewsbury what a Sh1thole) I'm qualified to say that, coming from where I live

I've never ridden a motorcycle in that there Londinium, nor do I ever want too, with so much congestion and the eyewatering insurance you've been quoted I would think again.

We often head to Grassington for a brew, then head over to Masham, Aysgarth and Hawes. Some fantastic roads and brew stops.

If I could add a little info for you. Depending where you are approaching the trough from, and where you want to head too, a good road starts just off the A59 at Ribchester Rd and through Ribchester then on to Longridge, pick up Longridge Rd and head for Dunsop Bridge (there is a cafe) or head a little further along that route to sykes and you will come across a brew wagon in a gravel lay-by just by the brook. Continue to follow signs for Quernmore and you will find Jubilee Tower, great views over Lancaster and Morecombe bay and the lakes. From there you could then head for Caton - Kirby Lonsdale (brew stop) then take your pick which way you want to head north.
