  1. I'm used to travelling on my own so that's not an issue. Where I'd use one is for the local knowledge in a place where I'd be utterly clueless on my own.
  2. Full set of Bahco wrenches from a Singapore drydock.
  3. I'd consider it if it was far away and exotic (and I could afford it!) Such as SE Asia, North India or Chile. Sadly unless I win the lottery and covid disappears can't see it happening.
  4. Absolutely most annoying thing to be stuck behind a cyclist on an uphill on a narrow road. Never mind the cyclist cursing, try me!
  5. True but for those of us from further north like Durham and Northumberland or Cumbria yorkies barely qualify as northerners.
  6. As a northerner who is doing missionary work in the south have to say that nesh isn't a word I've used. Used nithered for frozen.
  7. Fair comment, I wasn't really thinking of right now.
  8. Right now all we can do is dream. International travel isn't going to happen for the next few months at least.
  9. So far as I know the lighthouse bit is open to the public but I may well be wrong. I'm not that picky and will take the nearest bit I can or else use Europe Point in Gibraltar.
  10. My current fantasy ride which I could do in 2 weeks is from Cabo Tarifa in Spain (southernmost point of mainland Europe ) to Nord Kap in Norway (northernmost). Take a ferry to Santander and ride south to the start point. Do the route avoiding all Autoroutes etc. but aim at about 400 miles per day.
  11. Went out on the bike to buy food. On the way home the infamous Ducati engine warning light came on. Pulled over poked around but nothing obvious. Carried on with bike performing as normal apart from this annoying warning light. Got home and contacted Ducati and apparently it's nothing too awful as long as the engine starts. Apparently its a dodgy sensor somewhere. Ducati dealers are closed for at least another 4-6 weeks but if it gets really bad they'll recover the bike and try and fix it. Looking on the Internet a common reason for the fault is the sensor in the exhaust system - Euro bloody 4. Anyway I'll try disconnecting the battery etc. but I suspect it'll ultimately need Ducati's attention.
  12. Good morning. Woke up this morning to thunder and lightning which was a bit disconcerting. Just ordinary rain at the moment.
  13. Well there I would disagree with you. There again I'm pro-Israel which these days isn't exactly main stream.
  14. The 4K in that mode only had a battery life of less than 2 hours if using the standard battery. If you got the expanded version about 4. I never used it as I'm not watching my recordings on an enormous 4k TV. I'm not making art works!
  15. I'm with you on that. The endless reporting about the minutae of American politics is wearing. Ditto all the culture wars etc. Sure we might want to know the broad outline but we don't need all the detail. Try finding much in the way of foreign news in an American newspaper- maybe 2 pages out of 50 plus.
  16. When I bought my XL the fellow in the shop told me they expected the 4K to be discontinued and for them to push the XL. Given its cheaper, waterproof to a degree and has a 9 hour battery life its a definite improvement. The mic is still absolutely dire though.
  17. A helmet mountable camera which could be really good but isn't. I had a Ghost 4K which was good until it got caught in heavy prolonged rain whereupon it died never to recover. Tried a Gopro but the battery life was pisspoor. Then got a Ghost XL which is waterproof and although not 4K is a good enough resolution (1080). It's battery also lasts about 9 hours. So far seems good.
  18. Yeah, dawn flighting and shooting at silhouettes is a bit hit and miss (no pun intended!). Shoot the wrong kind of goose or worse a swan and you're in very deep, very hot water.
  19. As I don't have a garage I don't have a charger. My bike has been left outside under cover for 4 months and started at the first time of asking.
  20. Used to watch them when I worked for a Kuwaiti outfit as we got some satellite TV in the Gulf. They had a decent sports coverage and their news was no more biased than anyone else's.
  21. Canadas taste like shite and are generally tough as old boot. I actually like the sounds of geese flying overhead, I find it very evocative. When I was a child I used to live under one of their migratory flight paths and used to hear them often in the evenings.
  22. Similar article was in the Telegraph. When the technology catches up with the concept EV's will take off. If you can get 2-300 mile range and a re-charge of 10 minutes or so the whole idea becomes a lot more attractive. To my mind the biggest stumbling block will be infrastructure and the electricity supply available. Think a bank holiday weekend and all those cars trying to recharge on M-way services. Still a way to go I think.
  23. No, it's mandated under the IMO a bit like pilots flying hours. We're supposed to get a minimum 6 hours rest in any 24 but depending on what's going on not always. If we don't we are supposed to get compensatory rest later. More dodgy operators try and fudge it but if they get caught out the ship can be fined or even detained.
