  1. That was something I'd love to do. Never got further north than Trondheim when I was in Norway.
  2. Talk about being pissed off! Brought my bike over to Shepperton where its locked up when I'm away along with.my son in law's bike. All set to fly tomorrow morning and 10 minutes ago told everything was off as the guy I'm relieving is a Russian and the Yanks won't let him set foot on land at all. No idea when I'm going away now. More time home is always good but..... money.
  3. Well at least he'll be paying for his own wallpaper and holidays.
  4. Just bought a pint at Newcastle Airport- £7.26 a pint. FFS! Won't be buying a second!

    Taxes

A friend of mine had 2 small houses in the Guildford area which he rented out fairly without any gouging of tenants. He tended to have long term tenants as a result. The plan was it was to be part of his retirement income. When the rules changed it started becoming onerous and more expensive to him plus more of a risk. As a result he sold them both at a decent profit and has instead invested the funds. The houses were sold to owner occupiers not landlords.
  6. It's pretty crap to be honest. But my mum has already gone. What's left is only a shadow. Think I've managed to get her CHC so care is funded by NHS and things are supposed to be set up so she can move to a home close to where my dad lives. Turns out there's only 4 in Northumberland that can give the level of care she needs. Don't expect her to be here when I come home.
  7. Not bloody much. As it turns out I may well be flying out to join a ship on Thursday. So now scrabbling around trying to get my shit together.

    Taxes

Sunak already said he'd freeze tax thresholds for 4 years which is equivalent to a 21 billion pound stealth tax apparently. Cuts in spending would be useful but where could it be done? Cuts in excessive bureaucracy across the board would perhaps help but I've no idea how much could be gained.
  9. Personally I like Metzler tyres although I'm tempted by latest Michelin Pilots. Son in law reckons they're good but his bikes a large BMW K 1300 so not the same thing.
  10. Metal doesn't need wearing in. If it's jumping out of gear it's f**ked. Take it back to dealer and demand they sort it. If its within warranty try going direct to manufacturer.
  11. Gloves and boots I only buy in store after trying them on. Don't find salesmen try to pressurise me particularly as the shops I use are good that way. (SBS and Motolegends).

    New PM

Looks like Dillon might be on the way back. God help us.
  13. Good morning, and this week's prime minister is.......?
  14. All concerned parties have apparently already agreed there would be no custodial sentence. A moral win for the family though and possibly a hook to hang financial compensation on although I don't think that's their aim.
  15. Put the names in a hat and pull out the unlucky winner.
  16. What annoys me is you pay to get it and then you pay again to get rid of it and the bloody water companies still destroy our rivers and foul our beaches with shit. Should hammer them with serious fines and threaten the bosses with jail or community service cleaning up the shit themselves.
  17. The soup thing is a red herring as demand is only up so that nutters can throw it over paintings etc. The flux capacitors are serious though. Lack.of them is going to seriously affect the government's competence. At least that's their excuse.
  18. We are I believe currently training Ukrainians in the UK with live firing exercises so maybe some of that.
  19. Rode it down from Northumberland back to Gloucestershire unfortunately on boring motorways. Pretty strong cross winds made the first 100 miles or so quite wearing. Bike was absolutely great though.
  20. The bloated middle management desperately needs cutting.
  21. To be fair when my 10 year old grandson collapsed half an hour after arriving at A&E he was immediately rushed in to a scan where they diagnosed a perforated bowel due to some odd condition and therefore peritonitis. He was operated on at 0200 the next morning so 8 hours between arriving at A&E and operation. That included a blue light transfer from Durham to Newcastle RVI.
  22. My son in law is a specialist ungluer. Apparently they use some chemical to do it although he'd prefer to just rip em off. However he's had a couple of knobheads glue themselves in a stupid position which after a few minutes really starts to hurt. He likes to leave those to last.
  23. Multistrada- any version after 2017.
  24. At the end of August my mother was taken by ambulance at 0230 Saturday morning. She was in A&E by 0300. It took until 1730 for her to be into the intensive care Cardiac unit. Finally got something to eat and drink at 1430. She was accompanied by my 92 year old dad who wasn't in great shape either. They'd not told anybody what happened either so it was a bit of a cluster @@@@
  25. Spent a morning going round old haunts - Morpeth, Rothbury, Alnwick, Warkworth, Amble. Wet leaves all over the road and had a torrential shower but for only a few minutes.
