  1. The STR is quite comfortable but the seat could have more padding. However I do like the look of the Suzuki S1000GT. Maybe in a couple of years when I have finished paying the mortgage.
  2. Thanks Mike. The rhinowalk bag was just filled with junk boxes so doesn't sit right really. When filled with clothes etc it will be righter packed and more square. It should sit better then.
  3. I am very impressed with all the items i bought. * UA mount with top clamp attachment - easy to install and as solid as a rock. * Givi tank bag - the tanklock system was easy to attach to the bike and the bag sits nicely (after adjusting it to be slightly more forward. The bag is excellent quality but is quite large, not a bag i would use just for a little ride out but will store planty when touring. * the Rhinowalk bag was tricky to attach as i dont have panier bard or grab rails but i have found some places and may have to play about for optimum placement. The bag itself looks to hold a lot of stuff and was very secure once attached. I have ordered one more thing and thats an UA UBS socket. Waiting for that to arrive. UA stuff is expensive but if you put it in your basket and wait, you will get a 5% off code, wait a little longer and you will get a 10% off code.
  4. Would love a Vincent so much. Being a Stevenage resident, i want one to have a piece of history from my town. Far too pricey for me though.
  5. it looks great and for me, will be much cooler to ride than a Chinese bike. My only concern would be reliability, if you are handy with a spanner and feel confident you could deal with it then why not.
  6. Thanks Dex, i am a very proud father. She struggled for the first couple of weeks and was getting anxious about being re-flighted, she couldn't bear the thought of having to do even longer than the 10 weeks. She seems to have go to grips with this now and has accepted that "if it happens, if happens". This has meant she is a lot calmer and seems to be enjoying it more (not that anyone can enjoy the sleep deprivation, endless miles running and gas chamber). There has been a development yesterday, she has been told that they cannot let her leave the base (at graduation) with no MOT. So they have allowed me to go and get it MOT'd for her on Saturday afternoon after 1. The issue is that i have rung every MOT centre in the area and not one has a clot (some are closed and the rest are just full). However this means i will be able to bring the car home and get it done before it runs out. She just wont have it there with her for graduation, I can pick her up anyway so no dramas. Thanks for all the advise everyone.
  7. Making the cars easier to run close is critical for a decent and open season. The new rules will throw a little of the unknown into the mix but the usual suspects will still be there or thereabouts. Looking forward to it.
  8. yeah it probably what i will do, once she knows when she will finish. currently its end March unless she gets reflighted for any reason. Bearing in mind someone got reflighted 4 weeks for smoking a vape somewhere he shouldnt have been.
  9. probably but she is not allowed to leave camp and i am not allowed to collect the car.
  10. I know you can MOT month prior to expiry and it will be a month in a couple of days. However that does not help because she has the car with her now and has done for the last 4 weeks. Yes we could have done it before but we only found out today. Thanks all. I will book something near RAF Halton as soon as I have confirmation of her finish date. It will expire in the meantime but I doubt that's an issue was she can't use the car while she is in there anyway. The first use will be driving it to the MOT
  11. thanks gents, i think that is my only option. It will run out but so be it, we have all forgotten our MOT at some point. I remember once i didnt realise for months, until my TAX was due.
  12. Noone is allowed in or out of the base. She cant even come home at weekends, i think its because of COVID
  13. yeah but not only that..... the completion date could change with very little notice, particularly if she gets reflighted. Thanks again.
  14. Hi Stu its about an hour from home. They dont know yet as it depends when the next training intake is (she has further training to do after basic). either way she should be home for a few days before going off again, where that is, is anyones guess.
  15. Hi all after a bit of advice as my daughter has a bit of a conundrum. My daughter is currently doing basic training with the RAF and we have just noticed that her car MOT will run out before she finishes her 10 week basic training. During the 10 weeks she is not allowed to leave site (the car is with her) so wont be able to get the MOT done. She is going to ask if i can come and get the car (she will drive it outside so there is no contact) and i will take the car away and not return it until she finishes. However she does not think this will be allowed. its a pretty niche problem to have but any advice would be welcome.
  16. Popular meeting place, café and shop.
  17. Thanks, i think i was following an old instruction
  18. was looking to add Bike Stop in Stevenage High Street but don't seem to be able to add new markers. Address is 104 High St, Stevenage SG1 3DW Its a very popular meeting place, a cafe and a shop.
  19. That is true, you would think not having to do a 3h commute anymore would provide that time. Unfortunately there is always something else.
  20. yeah i will look to do that at some point. i need to get her out the shed for a clean and i want to attach the UA mount as well. Just need some time to do all that.
  21. i have an Oxford one (not sure which one but it might be the Titan). In all honesty i dont use it, at home my bike is stored pretty safe so i dont bother, if the bike is stored for long periods then i use my chain.
  22. Received a 30l Rhinowalk (£35) bag today. First impressions are that it seems pretty decent quality, loads of mount points and straps, just need to look up how to attach it the best way. @rob m thanks for the suggestion. Also went for a Givi XS306, decided against the ebay one and got a new oner instead. I think these together shoudl see me OK for any small trip i do this year. If not then i will add another Rhinowalk bag.
  23. i quite like that, i does look very similar to the Kriega stuff. I really like the fact they are almost modular and you can add more to it (including panier style ones. A spanner firmly in the works Rob, thanks. I was set on the Lomo roll bag for the rear but they are always out of stock. I am on a waiting list but not sure how long it will be.
