  1. I bought these a couple of years back and they are almost slipper comfortable. Very easy to get on and off with only 3 adjustable clips. Very warm in the cold times I’ve used them. Ridden in -2 indicated on the bike while moving a couple of times and with a thicker pair of ‘thinsulate’ socks on my feet stayed warm. Goes without saying they have not let in a drop of water in the times I’ve been caught out. I’ve owned the TCX Speed master Gortex and they were very comfortable too, but I sold them in the end on eBay as I just couldn’t bear the squeaking any longer. As bad as the SIDI squeak! Best boots I’ve owned up to date. I think they are going to last at least another 4 years as they still look almost new. Partly helped by the trouser leg going on the outside. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/363590
  2. Not sure I’d have put my life at risk for my bike. Each to their own though.....
  3. Make sure you tell whichever company you pay to take auto renewal off and delete your card details. They then have to contact you (usually by letter) with your renewal quote. That’s when you start looking around for the best quote. Once you have one, call them to see if they can match it. In my experience they never can so you tell them bye bye for this year.
  4. Still use it to get to work now and again Stu.
  5. I’ve been after insurance from Carole Nash for quite a few years on the recommendation of a few members of this site. I’ve obtained quotes from them for years now and for years they have been more than double the best quotes I’ve taken out...... until just now. They were more than half the price of my renewal quote and the best price on a well known comparison website. £147 fully comp with no added extras and no compulsory excess. I’m very pleased
  6. Get a V2 Sponge from SportsBikeShop. You won’t look back.. Well, you will, but with a very clear view
  7. Last time I went to Helmsley they were making you pay to park your bike there. Never been back since.
  8. As long as you feel comfortable and in control while stationary then I don’t see there is an issue. If you need to maneuver your bike, then jump off and walk it. Most people drop their bikes while sitting on them and paddling. I’m 5’7” and own a Versys 1K. Never had an issue keeping the bike upright while stationary. If both feet are down then I’m in the balls of my feet. If I slide over a touch then I can plant my left foot on the deck with a straight leg and the bike is only leaning about 1 or 2 degrees. I don’t get the mindset of flat footing.
  9. Some brands do optional thicker cheek pads. I’ve gone down this route in the past with my HJC. Definitely made a big difference.
  10. My bike wasn't. Having said that I bought a pair of XL gloves of a well known Italian brand on line whilst away at sea. Expensive and for me utterly useless. XL for a tribe of hobbits maybe but I couldn't even get my hands in. Also because I'd been away when they were delivered it was too late to return them. SportsBikeShop have a 365 day returns policy for future reference
  11. Why don’t you play them off against each other and see if your local dealer can match or better the price?
  12. No one has priority. Enter at your own risk.... Just like when you deal with a traffic light controlled crossroads and they are not working. Proceed with caution. Don’t they turn certain traffic lights off in certain places of the UK at peak times? Apparently the junctions have less congestion when people are allowed to deal with them of their own accord and less accidents to boot.
  13. You can trade you 'old' bike in against the 'new' one. The dealer will give you a figure for your old one and then pay off the remaining finance. If you have anything left over then you can put that as a deposit for the new one. Just haggle and don't tell the real reason you want to change bikes. Try and find a few bikes from different dealers and play them off against each other to get the best deal for you.
  14. I'm sure you can buy a pass certificate online.....
  15. It’s just like the 2019 Versys 1K. It’s got a few more bells and whistles on the previous model (2017- 2018) I have the 2017. The new bit are cruise control and active suspension and then some restyling. I really like it and my PCP term is up next year. The problem is, it’s knocking on the door of £15000. It’s out priced me unfortunately. I don’t think I fancy anything else on the market at the minute or even in a years time, so I got a loan and paid the agreement off, saved a few hundred ££. I’ll keep it for a few years and then see what’s out there. Bike prices seem to be escalating fast though!
  16. Should you not dispose of that fibre glass a bit more responsibly other than throwing it in the bin? I mean, I have no idea really but it doesn’t sound nice stuff to be just sticking in the bin. Is it worth taking down your local recycling depot to ask? Nice bike by the way. My Uncle used to have the same one with the screaming eagles on. Picked it up as a CAT C for a song. The bloke who owned it before hand was showing it to a mate at the side of the road and for some reason ended up flipping it off the kerb at 2mph EDIT: It was only a couple of months old and the insurance wrote it off. My Uncle spend £800 fixing the damaged bits.
  17. Not sure that front L plate is quite legal wrapped around there....
  18. Annoying indeed, but in their shoes if you wanna pay cash (like some sort of retro throwback), or gets cigs too, and arrive at a pay at pump or kiosk pump (cos they're never just pay at pump) you ain't gonna back up and find a just pay at kiosk one are you. The post was in jest. It’s mostly on a Sunday morning I stuck behind the old guy that goes in for his cigars and a paper. I like Asda station as there is no kiosk, just card only pumps. It’s not on my way out of town when I use the bike so time dependant it use Asda.
  19. Looks like you got off lightly
  20. I use Morrison’s mostly when going out on the bike for the fact that I don’t have to get off my bike to fill up. One issue I do have though is when people use the card pumps, but then piss off and wait in the long queue at the kiosk!!! Why!!!???
  21. It depends where it located. When I bought my Versys GT it came with a bracket that Kawasaki had moved from above the clocks to the centre of the bars for that year. The bracket bolted to the bar risers. My 410’s display would rotate, flicker and the unit would keep turning on and off. This would only happen when giving it sone beans due to the vibes coming off the bars. I decided to take it off and buy the above the clocks bracket from SW Motec and no more problems.
  22. This my mates 8 month old Z1000SX’s radiator. It happened a couple of weeks ago. It was the tiniest stone. The fins on these radiators are sooo fragile. He’s managed to find someone who can fix it. I asked him why he hadn’t put a rad guard on it. He has bought one now. It’s the first thing I put on a bike. Maybe you should invest in one after you finally get it fixed.
  23. Assen Spoiler. Do not read until you have watched both races. Unless you are not bothered. I stand by what I said. He was just sat watching the competition.....for a while....then fooked off. I don’t think anyone is gonna touch him for a while still. It must be so frustrating for. Not only Jonny but Kawasaki.
  24. I have a Versys 1K GT and it’s a fairly tall bike. I can’t remember the seat height, but the pillion seat is higher than the rider’s. I only have a 29” inseam so I use the peg method of mounting my bike. Owned it for two years and see no sign of any bending or damage etc. I also use the peg to dismount.
  25. I don’t think they’ll touch the revs just yet as Davis has only just come up the field and Aragon is one he goes round very well. I’m beginning to wonder if Bautista might, just might win every single race this season. Has this ever been done before? I would very much doubt it. Maybe when Syke’s BMW gets an engine upgrade he might be one to step up and beat Bautista. I mean, to get that position on a stock engine is pretty good going. Bautista sure is making the rest look like amateurs at the minute
