  1. That's unfortunate.. Still prefer to have a decent amount of power between my legs.
  2. Sorry @Stu I don't agree. This is still engine size related
  3. A wee exercise for you... Put together all you consider essential for a 2 weeks trip. Then ask your mrs to do the same. then come back to me with the weight. Would be interesting to see the split like 10/90%
  4. 86 and 114 being 2/3 of kerbweight for total weight. unless your trailer is filled with helium or hydrogen (other light gases are available) I can't see how you can have the 86/114 as luggage allowance.
  5. I stand corrected. so you would have 62 kg available. that will fit the sleeping bags then
  6. Correct, You would be looking at 175cc bikes to be legal. a 125 bike will be around 150 kg so you can only tow 100 kg. if the trailer weights 40kg then you're left with 60 kg. that's the missus toiletries bag.
  7. And ditch my beautiful carbon fibre one?? Are you insane???? Never had a bike under 750cc and no plans to do it. My criteria is, heavier bikes don't let you be a crazy tw@t going like a baboon on crack swerving between cars. And yes I've downsized from my BEAUTIFUL ST1300 for shorter trips got a VT700
  8. Not a 150kg trailer you can't. "When the trailer is loaded it must weigh no more than 150 kilograms or 2/3 of the kerbside weight of the motorbike - whichever is lighter." From gov.uk people
  9. Isn't obvious? Someone builds a 150kg trailer and goes on and on about a 5,000 miles trip in 2 weeks to Portugal. What else do you need?
  10. None of them appears to say that they took 2 weeks with 60kg of luggage.
  11. I'm interested in knowing how you do a 3,000 miles touring trip on a 125...
  12. Good morning everybody. First working day of 2021
  13. As everybody else all plans will be Covid pending. Ideal trip would be touring to Croatia for 2 weeks in the summer If not possible then I'll be roaming down to England and spend some time by the coast. Non related to trips or holidays, I'm toying with the idea of replacing the fairings on the Pan with red carbon fibre ones. But still the 2nd Jan so probably it will change a lot
  14. You needed 7 people to get that wee bike upright? Last time I had to lift my Pan European, this because of a nob cutting in front of me on a car park, by the time someone got close to me I had it already up. Probably the adrenalin kicking in and I just hold it by the frame above the engine and used the legs as levers to get it up. Is pretty much like putting it on the central stand, more technique and less strength
  15. Throw it in the bin. Repairing it would mean testing all the in-board elements till you find the faulty part. If it was flashing like the photo on and off and then went all out it would have been the power regulator that packed in. The larger square integrated circuit will be the processor while the other 2 large ones will be the cmos and memory manager. The repair would be a new motherboard which is the price of the whole thing. For £100 you get an excellent goggle tv box that will do the same showing the photos on the tv set.
  16. A must go if in Scotland. This small restaurant / take-away is one of the most famous place within the biker's community. In the route between Moffat and Selkirk, the road is one of the ideal routes in the central belt.
  17. A Must go fish & chips restaurant. Probably it will be very busy so you will expect some waiting time. One of the best F&C in the area. Ideally located halfway between south Fife and St. Andrews on the coastal trail. Nearby car park although bikers will tend to park by the dock in front of the shops. As attractions you have the boat trips to the isle of May where you can see the puffins, the fisheries museum or just have a walk to the Anstruther lighthouse.
  18. A nice place if you like trains. Or just want a wee break. There is a 20 min train trip along the river Dee and back. You can have coffee or tea and browse in the train if in between trips. Across the A93 you will have the salt sanctuary. https://www.salt-sanctuary.co.uk
  19. A wee take-away shop with outside picnic tables. Ideal pitstop when you travel down the A93 from Aberdeen to Perth. Toilets available at the car park at Balnellan road 5min walk.
  20. Been there years ago on my Africa twin. Even worse because the embarrassment was on supermarket's car park. Put the shopping in the top box, gloves and helmet on just to ride 1/2 foot and being surprised by the sudden stop and the bike falling on its side. Since then all my disk locks have the yellow coil to the grip.
  21. That will be the same problem as if the battery dies. Tupperware off and fix it.
