  1. Maybe check you have power to the starter button and to the starter motor from the battery. Check fuses etc l think its a process of elimination.
  2. Red kites, kestrels, buzzards and peregrine falcons and sparrowhawks most common here l think. Is that a peregrine?
  3. Strange world isn't it. The only encounters I've had with the polis on the road have been good.
  4. I used to use those earplugs when out in the lorry, they are the best value for total block out of sound. Took me back to overnighting at truck stops that did.
  5. If you are ok with slow meticulous processes it's not that bad. Keep each carb separate from it's neighbour, in 4 tubs if you like, some folks just do one at a time so you don't mix them up. Getting the carbs on and off with the rubbers can be a challenge, and often the rubbers themselves harden over time being a bit of a pain, you can soften them if you need to. Be prepared for skinning your knuckles and get a swear jar ready!
  6. try checking the throttle cable is running freely and not tight/ trapped anywhere.
  7. Hi, have you seen one on another bike? I'm going out on a limb here but I'd be very surprised if anyone made one for that model.
  8. You have a few options to be going on with, not tried the additives myself but defo worth a go. Plus giving the bike a good run out to get all the juices flowing, so to speak, run a full tank of fuel through it. If the shop you took the bike to did a ultrasonic clean they would have taken the carbs off to do that, maybe they didn't want to take the bowls off to have look. At least they come on and off ok. I'd be asking exactly what they did. No air leaks anywhere? If you get no joy from the additives and want to take the carbs to pieces and want to do a proper job get a rebuild kit. Allens Performance are recommended. https://www.allensperformance.co.uk/
  9. Thanks, I had fun with that.
  10. I prefer stainless myself.
  11. Insurance is a lottery at the moment. Keep looking is my advice, I think MCN uses go compare and sportsbikeshop probably uses the same search. I got mine through Devitt this year who I can highly recommend because they were actually cheaper than last years Bennetts. Keep searching and try fully comp as an option you will get better quotes.
  12. They look too long the new springs, TEC only supply brought in products like Wirth etc. Have you the right springs for your model? Brooks suspension is a good place to check what fits. https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/#
  13. Yours looks like some kind of tanker, how do you get out back under the bridges once you have tipped?
  14. Have a look at the news, a container ship hit the bridge, major incident.
  15. Yeah l agree, it seemed to take me ages to get some link pipes that fitted to keep it a 4 into 2. I had to get some Viper ones shimmed up, so when l got those sorted I wanted to try them out as soon as possible. That and me being a tight arse l got those cheap, to try them out. They have baffles and sound really really good so l thought they'll do for now. Still have a search for a pair of cans saved on eBay but l just moved on to the Yamaha, like you do...
  16. I boosted Pecco I was convinced he was going to do well.. aaarrr.. A couple more tweeks to be had now. I'm a bit annoyed with myself I didn't pay more attention when choosing my teams and the points scoring system. My mission now is not to come last!
  17. Hi, yes as above, like it would be when you look at anything second hand. I don't know anything much about the models you show, so the basics, do they look worn out and tired, have they been dropped etc. Go and talk to the sellers and see what they say, ask them what's wrong with them (the bike) Just go and find out as much as you can, you'll be surprised what you learn along the way. You said (in another thread I think) there are a lot of chinese 125's there. One of the reasons they are not good over here is because there is no real service/parts back up. As well as the quality being lower than say japanese bikes. But because there is so many over there I wouldn't discount one of those, if everyone has them there must be a lot of local knowledge and plenty of cheap spares. They can't all be bad, can they?
  18. I'd be looking for what fits best to start with. You may find the virago cruiser type bikes too low/small. Go and have a sit on few and get a feel.
  19. Its down to the MOT tester basically. I use an aftermarket exhaust and never change it. It doesn't need to have a kite mark or anything. It should also not say 'for race use only' or 'not for road use' which would give your tester an excuse to fail it. If it's sound and solid and not offensive it should pass. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-motorcycles/8-exhaust-noise#:~:text=The exhaust system and silencer, standard silencer in
  20. Easy enough to do an oil and filter change on these the conventional way, just remember to fit a new crush washer on the sump plug bolt and don't overtighten them. 23nm only.
  21. Try rotating the plate that you have taken the bolts out of on the shaft. Think bayonet light bulb.
  22. Looks like he never got it back after the third attempt if he's selling all his gear...
