I wonder if children who can't speak can see ghosts

Now, before you brand me a raving twit, just humour me ...

My daughter is not yet old enough to speak properly, although she does have a few simple words (hi, bye, mama, daddy, ball, dog, etc)

The other day I was looking after her while my wife was out and suddenly she stopped playing, stared at the living room door (which was open) and started waving and saying "hi", which she only ever does when she sees someone she knows, or whomever she decides she likes the look of. There was nothing there. Then she seemed to be watching something that I couldn't see and it seemed as if she was watching it move towards her. She then started smiling and waving and "talking" (babbling) to something that seemed like it was right beside her - only there was nothing there. Then she said, "bye" and waved at it/them a few times and then carried on playing as if whatever just happened was completely normal!

All I can say is that it shat the life out of me. It's left me genuinely wondering who or what the hell she was communicating with. I'm not normally one to believe in the paranormal, but this was very very real. I don't believe she was hallucinating either.

Has anyone here with kids ever had a freaky experience like that?

Apparently i done something similar when i was a baba. I used to sleep in my mams bed when my dad worked nights and she asked me who i was talking to, apparently i told her the old lady who sits at the bottom of the bed.

She never slept for days lol.

Reddit has entire threads on stuff like this at least your ghost seemed to be a friendly one!

On a side note I was reading entries in a super short story contest many years ago and the one I still remember was,

I went to my sons room as he was crying and he said "daddy there's a monster under my bed"

I looked under the bed and saw my son who said

"Daddy there's a monster in my bed"

For some reason it really creeped me out

I was woken by the missus once asking me if I was running a bath. I was confused as f**k. "What the f**k are you talking about woman?"

Went for a piss and yes, the bath was running, plug in, the perfect mix of hot and cold, filling up nicely.

I have no idea how the f**k that happened until one night the missus woke me up whilst I was standing next to the light switch after just turning it on.

Never seen it with kids, but every dog that says in my mums house for any length of time does similar. They look up to the top of the stairs, then go to the bottom and sit as if being told to, they wait there staring up the stairs for a minute or so, then trot into the living room (as if walking to heel) sit again then stare at something as if it walks in front of them, then walks behind them and out the door.

Whole things last about 3-5min and has happened with 4 dogs so far. Very weird!

I don't believe in ghosts, but must admit that this is bizarre behaviour to keep happening.

It's when you walk into their room at night and see them asleep but hovering three feet up in the air - that's when you know it's time to burn your own house down....

Hey,

My lad when he was a baby and before he could talk used to sit following something or someone around the room. He also used to sit, steer and smile as if someone was stood by the fireplace. When he started babbling he pointed one day and said 'Man' which was kind of creepy. We also used to hear footsteps etc on the baby monitor.

There's also been other occurancies.....one night I walked into the kitchen and automatically stepped over a black 'something' laid on the floor.......

When my dad lived here something used to turn off his phone charger. He said he actually heard it switch ofg one night.

Never bothered me. The house has a nice relaxed feeling. A good atmosphere.

This is a really interesting thread!

My best friend growing up used to talk to a "Charlie" that her mum couldn't see when she was really small..

Might have to ask my mum if I ever did any of this weird stuff when I was tiny! :D

When i left home to live with the mrs we had a pug, it was asleep and for no reason woke up, sat up tipped its head on a side and its head moved up the stairs like it was watching something going up them, when it got to the top of the stairs it laid back down and went to sleep.

It never got above 13°c even with the heating on all the time. complained to landlord, he come round and it was 26°c.

Next day it was 13°c.

Mrs was in bed and i was downstairs. She come running down the stairs screaming/crying that she had been pinned down and couldn't speak.

Another time i had to leave work and go home because she was shitting herself.

She was in the bath with the door open to the landing, she herd the front door open, the bamboo screen hit the back of the door as it shut, the front room door open so she shouted my name, herd footsteps comming up the stairs then nothing.

She made us move.

Where we live now is my dads old house. both kids went through a phase where they wouldn't go upstairs because of this woman the could see. Both kids described the same woman who looks like my mum.

My mum died in 1997, ive never talked to them about it and i dont have any pictures of her.

The house is a dormer bungalow. My dad put the dormer on in 1998.

Used to shoot a place that was ment to be big on ghosts but id sat out loads of nights till early morning with a rifle and nightvision and never seen/heard anything.

I've worked down in a data center on the old US air base on Greenham Common. Its an old nuke bunker.

I have been escorting someone in the past and he is in my clear sight in the room. Not walking. I am also looking at the cctv cameras for the corridor trying to work out where the footsteps are coming from. They were going up and down the corridor.

Also been in there at night when a banging came from a room. Check central camera screen, nothing there. Open door to room, banging stops. Close door the damn noise starts again.

I was only one in entire building and I had deactivated all the alarms and locks to get in for a remote hands job.

"I was trying to do a hand job last night but kept hearing banging from a room after I showed an escort around...."

"I'd best turn this story into a ghost story, just in case I talk in my sleep"

If you want to go in that data centre at night, be my guest. I'm never doing that again, experienced far too much weird activity down there to feel safe.

Only joking mate.

I do believe in all this. I have heard and seen some strange things.

Only thing is, they don't scare me but interest me.

I was that annoying kid who always asked.."Whhyyy?"

My lad is 2 in November, only says limited words. Mummy, Daddy, Juice, Ball, Man United ( 8-) ) etc.

We heard a jingling over the monitor the other night which had my arse twitching as I told the missus it's nothing  and shortly after he woke up screaming at about 10 pm, went upstairs he was sobbing pointing at the wall across from his bed saying something in his baby babble, he looked terrified the poor boy. Freaky shit, we brought him down on the sofa with us until we went back to bed.

I can explain this one, it's a common occurrence to many people and truly horrible. Sleep Paralysis, it's horrid. I've had it once :( google it :)

Now that could genuinely be a hallucination. As a small child I used to hallucinate in the awake/asleep state (I still do sometimes). It's very common in children.

I don't believe in supernatural stuff anyway I think kids just do weird things or like you say. Its still creepy when it happens though :).
