Is it def a combi.

Yep confused me too....

Only other thing I can think of now is that.

The original expansion tank buggered up n someone fitted an external expansion tank.

Or. Me n you are on the total wrong boiler.

I'm no plumber. I'm originally a mechanical tech.

But I think I know a bit.

Plus mine here's a Worcester greenstar.....

Oh bugger, I'm up for nob of the day. The boiler in our other house is a combi, this one's on a hot water tank. Sorry, my bad, it's not a combi after all. I'd been sorting something out with the other place and came back to this and just got the two muddled in my mind.

Nah, it's a fair cop. Can't believe I didn't remember which house I was in.

And the ending - it's the heat exchanger. Sadly our usual chap is away for half-term so it's taken a while to get a professional diagnosis.

But this is the story of my life this week. I was out on the bike this morning but then for some unexplained moment of madness got in the car to pop to Aldi 5 miles away. Took nearly half and hour to get there due to roadworks - so I thinks to myself, I'll be a clever chap and go round the ring road on the way home and avoid the roadworks.

Which would have been fine except Mr Lorry decided today would be a good day to catch fire on the A55 - so two hours later I finally make it home (having watched several bikers cheerfully make their way through the gridlock)

And of course, by then the ice cream I'd gone for had melted.

Have you checked to see if its still under warranty, as a side note ideal boilers are terrible for heat engine failures, they even have an in factory failure ratio of something like 77 to 1 and that's before they are built, its a bit pants.

Looks at our ideal boiler

FFS :crybaby:

Think the fail rate in the wild is 15 to 1 within 7 years if that makes you feel worse 😂

errrr yes!!

its now 5 years old! only 2 more years to save for repairs

You just buy the exchanger.

Few pints in town and me n daft lad would come over and do it.

Not a difficult job to be fair.

British Gas Homecare.

Let them pay for it.

That's what I have at our other place as it's let so I need to get any problems sorted quickly. To be fair it's been a pretty good experience so far but they seem to bump the price as the boiler gets older.
