Arwen Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 So today I said good bye to my first big bike, my lovely F700gs. I traded it in for the much lower and lighter feeling Honda CMX 500 Rebel! Mix emotions over the trade in, but I am so glad I have done it now. Made all the better by the guys at Ecosse Motorcycles in Dundee who made the whole process easier than cooking dinner! We only went for a short ride today as the temperature has dropped and it was threating to rain rather badly. The bike is lovely and smooth, and riding through town especially I noticed the massive difference in being able to reach the ground with both feet at the same time I've already bought a slip on exhaust and a luggage rack to fit to it next week. Still working on what to do with the bars and adding heated grips to it. And figuring out all the things and options with the trakking ! Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 The Rebel is a nice looking bike. Being comfy on a bike is a good thing, it gives you confidence as well as being far less tiring.Enjoy. Quote
Arwen Posted October 19, 2019 Author Posted October 19, 2019 Thanks. I really loved riding the F700, but I did have to plan every stop Typically though, Sunday night is due to be 1°C, so here comes the road salt Quote
skyrider Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 glad you can handle the new one more easily but the shame is you have got it just in time for winter and your old gs certainly looks a heavy beast Quote
Arwen Posted October 19, 2019 Author Posted October 19, 2019 Cheers! There is actually only 20kg difference between them. But the rebel being so much lower that makes all the difference. Quote
fastbob Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 You'll have to get together with HDSoph and form a ( small ) club . Quote
Arwen Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 Gave it a coat of ACF-50 today… putting it back in the garage and cannot help but laugh at how it makes my MSX look tall Quote
geofferz Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Nice looking bike for you got there - congrats! Quote
learningtofly Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 That looks like the perfect bike for you... and it’s so much nicer to be able to flat foot. Quote
Arwen Posted October 21, 2019 Author Posted October 21, 2019 Thanks everyone. Being able to flat foot is still feeling alien to me I certainly missed the heated grips of the BMW this morning. But bonus, didn't have the scrape the car of frost Quote
The Hitcher Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Congrats on the new bike, it looks cool in all black . Quote
Arwen Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 Thanks The Hitcher, I normally got for colour of bikes, but I could not resist this one all in black. Quote
The Hitcher Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Good choice!, I think the stealth black look really suits it , hope you’re enjoying it as much as possible given the time of year!. Quote
Raygun95 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Must be nice being able to get both feet flat on the floor, wish I could do that Quote
Arwen Posted October 24, 2019 Author Posted October 24, 2019 This is the only bike I have found I can do it on Raygun95 Even on my MSX I can only get one foot flat at a time !Got rid of the rear seat last night and replaced it with a rack from Beowulf. Just need to get some black bolts to replace the silver coloured ones. New exhaust should arrive today or tomorrow Quote
Mr Fro Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Just need to get some black bolts to replace the silver coloured ones. Say whaaaaat?Wasn't linuxrob doing stuff with anodising and ting? Quote
