I try local dishes whenever I'm out unless it's something I know I really don't like. In laws live in South shields so parmos quitlte popular. Our local dishes would be faggots and peas or grey peas and bacon simple but tasty food! 2 Quote

I recall having faggots and peas (and pease pudding) off the market in Wednesbury when I was a lad. Loved them. 2 Quote

Fozzie Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Good afternoon My company is in the news again, for not good reasons, as usual. Apparently one of the contractors they use was breaking into houses to fit new prepay smart meters for elec/gas. The reason being, after eliminating everything else, if it's just a scrote that refuses to pay, they can get a court order to force entry. But appears it happened to some vulnerable folk. So a lot of notices flying around today on the topic... 1 4 Quote

So a lot of notices flying around today on the topic... I'm surprised they didn't do this to me, after I refused to pay one of my bills. The story was that I built up a good amount of credit with a supplier who went bust. My account got switched over to Grittish Bas as a supplier of last resort. They sent me a bill from day 1 to day 30 - I told them to take payment from the balance that should already be in my account when it all switched over. "Oh, we haven't got that sorted yet", they said. "Not really my problem", I said. "Contact the administrator of your previous supplier", they said. "Why should I?", I said, "they don't owe me any money... " Not being in the habit of paying for energy twice or lending cash to large energy companies I referred the case to the Ombudsman and got an apology plus a small payment. Jumped to another supplier shortly after. And then they went bust.... 2 1 1 Quote

They hovered up all the collapsing energy companies in an attempt to boost their customer numbers, but as with all the big plans they come up with. The fine details had been neglected, and situations like yours were fairly common. 2 Quote
S-Westerly Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 We use British Gas and find them reasonable but then our previous supplier was Scottish Power and they are truly dire. The most useless, thieving bast*rds you could ever hope to deal with. 2 Quote
Pie man Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 The energy providers, knew what they were doing and it sickens me to think many people are struggle with high energy costs, they force installations of these pre payment meters that actually cost the customer even more. all robbing b'stards 1 1 Quote

So a lot of notices flying around today on the topic... I am guessing some of the scooters can find vulnerable when need be, although it doesn’t look good one them. However they are not helping themselves, I increased my direct debit at home back in the summer and ordered some extra logs / coal. To get a little ahead, sadly I know how much gas we use year in year out. What have the gas and electric companies done? Estimated my usage and change my Direct debit to suit themselves. Ironically they had decreased it not increased it, then they wonder why people are worried about bills. Mums how’s which is empty, they have done the same demanded I pay more than needed then just started changing the debit to suit themselves. Luckily again it’s an overpayment, At least when they change your mortgage amount they tell you! Quote

When we first moved in they screwed up things so badly that we ended up with a full year for free. 3 3 Quote
